Vice City is the biggest criminal, though the Hitman Contratcs also did it.

I have 5 speakers and a subwoofer, setup as 6 speakes in my nForce control panel.

Now, whenever I run Vice City, and adjust the audio settings from there (mostly in game volume), I loose all my nForce settings - it goes back to thinking I have 2 speakers, or, it mutes all 6 of them. Usually both.

Is there a way I can block games from pissing about with my sound settings? Reconfiguring my sound every time a mate plays VC on my 'puter is really pissing me off.

Any help would be appreciated :)

I had that very problem with my AC'97 onboard audio. To fix it i removed the drivers with driver cleaner then installed newer ones.

Silverhood, i had exactly the same problem with the nforce2 switching from dolby 5.1 to 2 speakers when i played farcry.

Quick driver update later, and all was fixed.

I would imagine all the driver settings are stored in the registry somewhere. Perhaps you could find the correct registry entry, and save it onto your desktop.
