Gamer Gear, time for evolution?

We're a group of students at the Technical University of Denmark, who are working on developing an alternative to the mouse. We're aiming at getting increased speed, which will be optimal for games, so we would really like to hear gamers opinion about this product.

I hope you want to answer this questionnaire, it consist of 10 brief questions.

just out of interest whats the most anyone here has/would spend on a paripherial for gaming? i think most i spent was £30 for a keyboard and mouse though they werent purely for gaming but as an alternative to my laptop keyboard and mouse...

i spent about £50 or so on a mouse.

Actually several people has chosen 500$, i think it really depends on what your expectations are. If you imagine a mouse that is 5 grams lighter i'd agree with you, but if you imagine the same evolution as going from purely keyboard to keyboard+mouse controlling, then it's a whole different story. Who would be satisfied with playing Counter Strike with keyboard only nowadays... I think most people would pay the price for the mouse or stick to Pacman.

I've seen a guy wtfpwn in UT with keyboard only....and he didn't kill newbies only, he killed very experienced players with that. What you make out of your situation can sometimes be amazing =)

Leave them alone, why do people waste their time trying to reinvent shit that works, a hunderd companies have already tried to replace the mouse.

Sure make the mouse cooler/better, but an alternative, nah i dont think so.

Well we're not trying to make yet another glider-, ball-, light- or touch-mouse thing, there's plenty nice alternatives doing about the same, just using different grips.

Only 2 reasons can make you change your mind, it's either because this tool makes you win more.... or because your arm is causing so much pain that you need an alternative to keep playing.

mice and keyboards are far from fine. They are the most unergonomic tools ever invented by man.
Just a quick test: sit at your computer asif you're typing, then without changing your arm position, turn your palms inwards and upwards to your max position. Now back to their other max position. You cannot turn much further than your normal typing pose. Your neutral position is somewhere in the middle of those two outer positions, which means that you're continually typing with tensed muscles.

I have double jointed elbows, so I owns keyboards. (I never considrerd how it might be for normal folk tho)

Mice, never had a problem with them either.
