I have also posted this in the technical forum, but I've posted it here too as I know there are lots of budding movie makers about on here and was wondering if any of you have had the same problem with DAOC : ToA + Gamecam.

Here is the link to my thread in the Technical Section:

https://forums.freddyshouse.com/showthread.php?t=57257

And here are the details from it so far in case you can't be bothered to click on it :>

Anything I can do?

These are the first few lines from the errorlog.txt in ToA

This goes on for ages and this seems to list all the things running in the background.....

Any suggestions?

And my 2nd post ---------->

The only problem is that fraps uses up HUGE amounts of Hard drive space and the compression on the fly of Gamecam is really useful - especially the "record the last 90 seconds of action" feature.

Is the error Gamecam's fault or ToA's fault? Or is there a memory error?

PS Came back here as it crashed again to desktop - latest error log:
game caused an Access Violation in module GameCamDLL.DLL at 001b:5204b4a2.
Exception handler called in rndr.
Cver TOA dev
Error occurred at 4/28/2005 01:28:18.

1 processor(s), type 586.
1024 MBytes physical memory.
Read from location 000249fc caused an access violation.

Hmmm the "Read from location 000249fc caused an access violation." is the same as last time. I might run some memtest's overnight to see if my RAM on the PC hasn't shafted up.

I have also made a posting on the planetgamecam website to see if they can offer any light on this subject.

If the worst comes to the worst, Can Catacombs be made to look identical to ToA? or can SI use custom UI's? (I can't remember).

It's frustrating as at any random moment - it instacrashes to the desktop, and as an SB, you usually have 1 or 2 AE Mezz poisons ready to be applied (30 minutes re-cast time) and when you come back from the crash, they are gone :/ And when you are trying to kill Cyclodia and his pals, to try and give him some payback for his non-stop lame /laugh spam each time you are zerged, it can get annoying.

Anyway - any help appreciated.

Does anybody on here have problems using Gamecam and ToA?

I am no expert on these things but C:\WINDOWS\System32\D3D9.DLL is a file for DirectX right? Are you sure you have the newest version?

to answer one of the questions, yes you can make cata look like TOA, there is an option to run classic skins, the client is actually better than the toa one, i seem to lag a lot less with it. Most toa UIs work in Cata as normal.

Thanks for the replies - to answer some of the questions:

rure: I am no expert on these things but C:\WINDOWS\System32\D3D9.DLL is a file for DirectX right? Are you sure you have the newest version?
I think I have DirectX 9.0c installed

Heta: running 1 or 2 acc's? Running just the 1 account on this pc

Novamir: i used Gamecam with nps running 1 toa-enabled acct. - Nice :> Ok if you wouldn't mind Novamir, are you using nvidia drivers? what directx version? and full version of Gamecam or Gamecam Lite?

Tilda: Is gamecam free? - there is a gamecam lite and a full version. www.planetgamecam.com . The bits I like about it are the file compression on the fly and the "record last 90 seconds of action" feature it has.

Raven: to answer one of the questions, yes you can make cata look like TOA, there is an option to run classic skins, the client is actually better than the toa one, i seem to lag a lot less with it. Most toa UIs work in Cata as normal. - Excellent, thanks Raven, I may give this a go in the meantime until I find out a solution to the problem.

game cam is really good, but do you know how to get it to revert to the old bmp/jpg format? so u can edit it in premier and stuff? I liked fraps cos it didnt encode it right away.. not that its a prob it doing it already on GC, but it would be nice to add text and stuff.
