Just wondering, is anyone going to buy a Gameboy Advance when they are out in 25 days? They are £80 so not cheap, but they do look quite impressive - even though I was never a fan of the Gameboy.

Games look spinky, but price tag is quite hefty for something as powerful as a Snes. (£100 for a DC / PS2, £80 for GBA, see?)

No, I didn't mean PS2 as it goes, it was just as I was thinking about the whole current generation of things it stuck there, I did mean PS1 (er, psx)

portable Psx is about £100 though, but its quite bulky and I already have a PSX.

Btw:

Why is PS2's motto something like "welcome to the third world" ?

GBA is far more portable than any PS version

I'll get one cos I tend to get every console. I've even got a PS2 ffs when I could have just bought a proper DVD player

I personally wouldn't touch a PS2 at the moment. They'll have to convince me that there are going to be some better games - at the moment they just have Starfighter, and keep harping on about Metal Gear Solid 2. Big woop?! Nah.

I'm waiting for the X-Box and the Cube, and I'm already leaning to the Cube.

But I'm also thinking of getting a GBA.

I think it's likely to be Gamecube for me. Why?

Well, out of all the demos from E3 the GC had the most impressive.


Waverace GC looked fab. I loved the original.

Rogue Squadron 2 looks totally superb.

Namco are supporting GC, Sega are too.

I think the mooted price point is likely to be £199. (it is $199 in the States).

I think PS2 will probably be most popular, but as a hardcore gamer I see the Big N as being the purists' choice. I admitt MGS2 looks great. I have played GT3 and it also is very pretty, but IMHO is nothing new.

I may get the PS2 if it came down to £150. I could use a second DVD player for my games den



XBox? Nothing has been shown to convince that this will be anything other than a glorified PC without a keyboard.



GBA. Well, I was going to be first in the queue for one but recent reviews of games and the high price have made me think again. I will hold out and see how it develops.

GameCube is what I'm looking forward to most at the moment. I could be proved mistaken after the releases but so far I'm looking to the Big N to be least 'hype-over-games'.

I have exactly the same plan Wazza.

Already picked up Sonic Adventure and Get Bass Fishing for £7.99 each at HMV!

Just waiting for the likes of Jet Set Radio, House of the Dead2 + gun and Silent Scope to drop before I get them.

www.eb.uk.com have house of the dead 2 plus gun for 26.99 i believe. not too bad.

dreamcast is by far my fave console atm. for 100 squid with few games and a great back catalogue going cheap it's a steal

The portable PSone is just a PSone with an LCD screen and does seem to require a power source such as a lighter socket in a car.

The PS2 is set to drop by £100 from £300 to a more reasonable £200 sometime this summer.

The DC is still a good machine and its good to see that Sega isn't going to persist in making Hardware. They can now produce great games for the other machines, they could end up be more powerful as a pure developer than even EA.

The GC is going to be my machine of choice since my m8s and I used to play Mario Kart on both the SNES and N64 all the time.

My SNES emulator is also getting a good workout.

The GBA is a nice concept, SNES power on the move, but having used a Game Gear before and finding it even harder to see than a GB I don't think I'll bother.

That they do but I'm not one for straining my eyes and since if I'm on the move its normally on a bike I wouldn't get much chance to play it any way

Have you played on one though? They aren't in the slightest bit hard on the eyes, even for long-sighted people. It's clear and easy to see everything without a difficulty.

No. I know the sceen is big but then again lets see how it performs over time. Then again there still isn't any point in me having one even if it doesn't hurt my eyes.

I haven't paid much attention to it, and have no idea of any of the games that will be coming out for it or anything like that. Although I probably end up getting one and rarely using it anyway.

I'm gonna get a GBA.. mainly because CinemaWare (the old games publisher from tha Amiga days) is developing a port of the old 'Wings' game for the GBA.. rahh that was fun.

Have a DC at the mo.. havent played on it in a while, I think Soul Caliber kinda burnt me out!

Gamecube looks great. Pikmin looks fantabulous! Those are the games I love Nintendo for - novel and totally fucking weird. Wave Race, Rogue Leader and Zelda look ace already - as does Metroid Zero.

But Super Smash Bros. Looks crazy
