Are the prices of games to high?


in answer to my own thread, id say not, as I remember paying £19.99 for a copy of "Barbarian" for the ZX Spectrum in Woolies years ago. So i dont think paying £44.99 for a copy of "Lord of the Rings 2 towers" for Xbox is too unreasonable..? Also the development costs for games run alot higher these days. I think the record is for "Shenmue" which had a dev budget of $70 million, but only cost £39.99 when originally released.

however, i think my thread differs from that one. He is ranting about somthing intangible ( i think) and more game.net related, i am inviting comments about the retail side of the company. Just to go off on a tangent, ive just read the GAME annual report (**hears groans**) and they are making more money every year, are in profit, turnover is up year on year, have most of the market share, but thier shares are 61p. Go figure. But Vodafone who are F**ked in almost everyway fiancially, have a higher share price.

yes i do own shares in game and im pissed off with the performance!!

that was an in-joke and not aimed at you at all. Anyway,

seriously, does anyone think there are any Game employees on the forums apart from game.net dudes and head office people? I mean the grass roots slaves like store salesmen and management?

Moreover, are they scared of putting there 2 penneth in?

I now have taken time to read a large part of the "get it of your chest thread" and i have to say jeeeeez some of you guys are pissed off! I didnt know Game has made such an (allegedly) balls up of it! I have seen alot of IDs cropping up time and again with a sentiment that Barrysworld was nice and cosy as it was. Why didnt they just continue calling it barrysworld and charge for it?

I suppose it was like renaming 'marathon' to 'snickers'. it really wasnt neccesary was it? thats the impression im getting.
