Scunny branch has a single width stand thingy. No posters, no banners, no one apparently buying (the shelves were full at about 3pm on Sat)

But hey, maybe they'd been restocked. One thing though. Make the stands further apart, its difficult to manovre the damn pram.

You have to write it like you are talking to a 2 year old...that has a 1 min concentration span...

Personally I think it's a con. I bought my system (specs below) off TdC for £600 and it won't run the Game.net disc at all. He says it's Game's fault. Can anyone help?

Are the servers actually filling up yet?

Still undecided as to sub, not heard much about state of servers since official launch of game.net

Will old bean :)

Well m8 I've been keeping an eye on the OpFlash forum and you lot seem to be having a lot of fun...but I sold my copy a bit ago waaah :(. Hmm, I might take a short sub and buy it again on the cheap. Is there a pack out with OpFlash and Resistance?

You can get the GOTY edition, which contains the full Cold War Crisis, Red Hammer, and Resistance...I'm not sure how much it costs, but you are a resourceful sort and will work it out.

Would now be a good time to mention the extra 50 missions Deathace kindly added to the servers?

I'll stop hijacking this thread now, honest.

I noticed both Brighton GAME's had the subs cds in suitable positions, though I have a growing suspicion that the former EB one on western road is shoddy. I didn't see anybody buying or even looking at them in either location though.

Ye and when i went in yesterday the Churchill square one had lost all the posters!

WTF! Backward advertising?

I wandered into the game in Fleet last weekend hoping to see nice big shiny posters, unfortunately I had to fight my way through huge jungles of X-Box Live (*spits*) advertising to find a small dinky A4 thing in the PC section. Farnborough wasn't much different :(

Same up here in Glasgow at St Enoch Centre and Buchanan Street.

very little advertising of the Game.Net service. I subscribed to it online last night but how the f@ck are people supposed to find out about it if...

1. The staff don't have a clue about it
2. The punters don't know a thing about it

The PC Gamer market gets short thrift anyway in the Game stores as consoles undoubtedly make them more money...

Looks like Word of Mouth has to be the way!

Word of mouth very welcome; but I think you may be wrong about the split of PC / console sales... PC games is taken very seriously AFAICS at ol' GAME H/O.

Sounds like you suspect a commercial conspiracy when there ain't one;)

Could be wrong tho, as I'm a mere editorial folk-person. A pack explaining GAME.NET has gone out to stores; but you can imagine how much paperwork our front line people get sent. Give it time, give them time - improvements are already in the pipeline...

Yep; it's Ted naked on the cover of the CD. You guessed it!

I went into Game in Leeds today for the first time in a couple of months. There were a few Game.Net DVD boxes in amongst the new releases. My first impression was that it was fairly weak - didn't grab the eye at all, gave you no incentive to pick the box up and turn it over (let's face it, that's what you do in Game when you're interested in the product). I think I only noticed it because I know what Game.Net is. Mate who I was with, who doesn't, just passed straight over it. I'd suggest something a little more eyecatching, with a bit more primary information on there, and possibly some banners or posters - not sure whether putting it amongst the games is very effective because people tend to just scan the shelves for games they're looking for.

Just got my latest e-mail from GAME telling me about new releases, and at last a link to game.net which the uninitiated can just click and.............

Wait a minute, no there isn't.

FFS, if you cant type, 'Look here for unrivalled multiplayer gaming -> www.game.net ', what hope have we?

I got a personal reply when i ranted about this oversight before saying that they couldn't include it before because the launch hadn't happened, which I thought was fair enough. What excuse this time? We're only really left with incompetence...

DaGaff - I thought it was covering the basics too much, but I realise not everyone who works for GAME necessarily has the relative PC experience. I'm about the only one in the shop, so I get _all_ the questions. Lots of "Why won't <insert new game here> work on my PC?", "Erm, how old is it?" "About 4 years" "Ah..."

Much as i - and presumably Ted (who wrote the section in the most recent newsletters) - enjoy being heralded as incompetents;), may I quote from each of them? I'll take it that I can:

"Today is the launch of GAME.NET... Anyone who's ever fancied playing PC games online, or anyone who already does, needs to jump over to http://www.game.net" 14 March 2003 18:53

"full details are available in your local store or at our shiny and sexy site:

http://play.game.net" 21 March 2003 19:33

So what you talkin' about Willis?
