Advice ? Loose the buffbot !

Seriously tho I had the same problem - upgraded from 512MB to 1GB then DAOC started acting funny - as soon as i put the old memory back in the PC worked fine again, checked all the stats on the memory chip and they were as the motherboard requested, try doing something other than DAOC, like copying a large file from one folder to another, or download a memory checking tool - or see if your BIOS has a FULL memory test, some do.

I know it's unlikely, but have you made your update.dat Read Only recently? If you have, it can cause repeated crashes.

had the exact same problem recently myself.

u have a virus/worm. it really is a pain in the ass. had me checking absolutley every part of my computer, even formatted and still had it, wasnt till a friend told me to check for it that i actually found the problem.

u get the info on how to remove it here + a removal tool

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.welchia.worm.removal.tool.html

from what u describe it sounds exact same as me, so hopefully this should sort u out. if this aint the prob then sorry i dunno.

For anti-virus, always have one that scans constantly. Then back it up with regular scans just in case.

i removed the virus and just after i had done goa had moved both chanter and druid out off ts like i asked.so i go try it out and it works.thought cool so tried a relog to be sure.when i log back in druid crashes but not chanter.second time i try log in chanter that crash as well in ts.so i still dont know what the problem could be.

Game crashing to desktop can be caused by uneven cooling of a processor, particualrly any chip without a heat spreader welded on (i.e. AMDs). Solution is switch off, remove heatsink, repaste or use new thermal pad making sure all of chip is covered then rebuild and switch back on. make sure the Fan works and you never run a chip without a heatsink for even a microsecond.

Other problem can be the classic Vcache problem with 98 or Me.
Basically these O/S cant support more than 512Mb for 3D work. Solution take chips out to make 512Mb or less (most sensible solution).

If you get general crashing you can also check motherboard capacitors. the top of which should be flat. If the caps are swelling they need replacing, but its normally easier to change the board. Some investigation as to what made the cap swell might be in order, if you've got a cheap PSU change it, otherwise you might be suffering form the Fake electrolyte problem with taiwanese capacicitors. This is currently being argued over in the computer industry and occured (alledgedly) about 15 months ago.
