I'd better stop this getting too confusing.
Basically I was the one who got the phone call from the police cos I was also getting these bloody prank calls.
I said that we'd since had a confession from the person making the calls. The policeman asked me if I could tell him the name of the person we thought it was. I told him and he just simply confirmed that was also the name of the person he was investigating.
He didn't exactly give away any details and told us nothing that we didn't already know. In fact he'd look a bit silly denying it was who I'd said it was and then nothing further happening in the case.

So there ya go....

Well yeah the police have the legal ability to divulge the suspect in the course of their investigation, but no-one in BT (or any other TelCo) can do it as it's illegal for them to do so.
