G4 Macs

Ok boys & girls, its a long standing testamony that I'm not a fan of Macs, however I need to flatten (i.e. kill everything & start from scratch) a G4 powermac. I cba to search around through 20,000 odd "how to do it" webpages that won't tell me what I want to know so if anyone would be so kind:

How do I flatten the HDD & prep the machine so it will install from an OS cd or similar.

Which CDs do I need to reinstall the OS, etc.

What updates would I need for Mac OS9 (which is what I believe might already be present on site on CD so i'll probably end up using) to bring it "up to date" ?

Dunno mate, I have to use the bloody things at work. They are so crap I'd chuck it out of the nearest window.

I would, except:
  • It's not mine (thank god for small mercies)
  • I like the case, it's a far nicer colour than everything beige around it (mouse sucks donkey testicles though)

Just put in the OS CD (pray its OS X and not OS 9), and go from there. Its really easy.

OS X = teh win, btw.:p

If you pick the drive you should be able to zero it (unless it's scsi in which case you can do a low level format) then as Will suggests stick in the OS cd and it'll do all the stuff for you. Mac's a great like that.
