No more than i believe football hooligans and their actions reflect the opinions or feelings of the majority of football fans, but you cannot deny the damage to the perception of all football fans. The difference is our government and society nipped that little puppy in the bud long ago for the most part. Our Muslim majority are doing what when the minority of whiners make yet another fuss over nothing? make threats and so on........................well not a damn thing really (except in that very moderate cop out tactful, re bullshit kinda way) because they are just as scared to speak out in public as your good ole British native.

So they way I see it if the majority (or moderates) decide to get of their arses and do something, they will get my support, but so long as they say nothing and do nothing i am all for the white guy telling it how it is.

He's right more than he's wrong tbh......

......Arent they? Isnt living with the belief that showing their ankles is a sin a form of mental illness?....

Comments like this make me realise just what a waste of time it is trying to communicate with some people and make them understand that there are people out there that have different belief systems and different upbringing.

Going by your idiotic thoery i guess all the women in my family must be mentally ill cuz they choose to wear a hijab. Ok mate yes you are right, kinda like all English people are peadophiles that like to take it up the arse after ten pints and a donner kebab on a saturday night.

The terrorists / suicide bombers are held in as much contempt by decent, law-abiding Muslims as non-Muslims.

Highlighted the important word there. If someone chooses to wear it then hey - go for it, I wont stop you. If someone's been brought up from birth being told they HAVE to wear it or they'll burn in hell - thats abuse. If someone continues to believe it after they should know better, thats mental illness.

Also interesting the first metaphor that came to your mind was about taking it up the arse. What would Freud think? :(

I borrowed them off Tamian :/

on a side note tho' isnt tradition often the truth behind religiose garments ?
sure the person will tell you it's a question of faith or belife, but if you strip all the bullshit to the bone, dosent it come down to tradition ?

Yeah and a tradition is essentially a well instilled meme thats handed down through generations and engrained from infancy. Education and upbringing are the only real way to counter tradition, along with plain common sense.

Still, tradition by itself isnt necessarily bad, when it's enforced though it's another matter.

Why do i always get drawn into these discussions, I'm too drunk :(

well,

one could tho argue that Education and upbringing are a tradition in them selves, at least in most culture, and are even strictly enforced. ;)

He brings up a controversial topic, and people are going nuts because of it. I don't know whats worse: that people are getting pissed off as soon as someone mentions Islam in a negative way, or that it's considered to be controversial, because it shouldn't be.

I think he has a good point of view.

It's getting tedious with all these politically correct muppets who are so eager to defend Islam from any sort of criticism with their last drop of blood. Because in their own romantic point of view, they are helping their country by increasing tolerans, helping integration and so on. Because obviously, if one is to integrate an ethnic group into a western society, one shouldn't even talk to them, and especially not talk about them. I however, think it has a counterproductive effect.

I don't think marginalizing people like this guy is healthy for a society, because they're the only ones who are brave enough to talk about the problems.

All muslims are not terrorists or extremists - true, and media is always giving the extreme ones way too much room. But that is partly due to the fact that the moderate ones doesn't speak up against anything, except when Islam is offended somehow, somewhere. Maybe it is due to fear, or maybe they don't feel it's worth it. But I believe they would, if they felt it was worth a damn, if society gave them support. But it doesn't, since there are so many people screaming "islamophobia!!!", and "racism!!!" at first oportunity, while the extremists call them traitors and false muslims and put bounties on their heads. For example: Hirshan Ali, even though she is black, and muslim (or former rather), is apearantly both a racist, and an islamophobic to her critics, and of course, has a bounty on her death.

If you live in Alabama
No, i have the same view as him when he say's that islam i still a young religion.

But personal experience i've had dont help my view of some muslims, a few years back i dated a girl who where from Turkey, her family being muslims, it ended with me goin out one night and was assaulted by all the males in her family that lived in sweden, 15 guys against me, and i got a knife against my throat. Was called infidel, and if i didnt stop seeing their sister/daughter/cousin they would rape and kill my family. And since i worked at the same job as her, i didnt see any other way than to quit my job.

And being a nightworker i move about alot during the night and been assaulted 7 times the last 15 years, and all by a gang of muslim kids who has been out drinking and think its fun to harass other people for not "respecting them" meaning i didnt show i feared them when i saw them.

And seeing headlines in magazines that says 3 year old Afghan girl married to her cousin, dont help our western view on islam.

But most muslims are just like most christians/buddhists/jew etc, just ordinary people. And i always let the persons actions show me what kind of person they are not their religon, most muslims i've meet are decent people, but being a minority in the western world, the bad seeds stand out more.

And man almost always fear what they dont understand.

he's only right about a faaaaaaar minority of muslims,
And he tbh is no better by being just as closed minded and ignorent as the people he's attacking,
and alot of what he says can be directly transfered to Christianity, "bet he wouldnt like to hear that tho"

Very true, especially the bit about can be applied to Christians, the amount of xian fundies out there who are just as bad as the big bad Muslim ones is shocking, but why don't we hear about them in the news? because they work through things like the Bush administration to get their way. Just look at all the states in America which teach creationism in science classes, thats just as bad a form of abuse as making people wear a head scarf imo.

Its not because he is negative about Islam, its because he is ignorant about the religion, but still decries it. If someone did the same thing about black people, or Jews, then you wouldn't wonder why people got up in arms, but because its currently politically convenient for our governments, its considered acceptable to do it about Muslims.

I think religion is bollocks, i make no exception for Islam, jihad or not.

Don't dis my beliefs!

So long as you don't do the same to other people's beliefs (and yes, I did get the way this comment was meant, but it still needed saying).

It's nothing to do with the subject matter, its to do with the fact that he is plain ignorant and has a chip on his shoulder. IF he came up with well reasoned and factual argument that is another issue entirely, as i said above which mojo had his rant about i only watched 30 seconds of it and it became obvious how pointless it was to watch the rest
All muslims are not terrorists or extremists - true, and media is always giving the extreme ones way too much room. But that is partly due to the fact that the moderate ones doesn't speak up against anything,
The muslim council of britain (biggest body in the uk) condemmed terorrists who go around blowing people up, they supported the deportation of Abu Hamza al-Masri, Abdullah el-Faisal, who also preached anti-western proganda was removed from the mosque where he preached his wares and then later had a restraining order put on him to stop him coming near it again as he had set up shop across the street, he has now been deported again with public support from the council

in february there was a demonstration in support of Imam Hussain who was executed in Iraq for being against Sadaam
Only a couple of months ago there was a march against terrorism in luton

Let me ask you this, what more do you expect them to do?
i do agree they seemed to lose the plot when that girl wanted to wear the whole burka in school but they were pretty quick to distance themselves afterwards when they realised their cock up

For example: Hirshan Ali, even though she is black, and muslim (or former rather), is apearantly both a racist, and an islamophobic to her critics, and of course, has a bounty on her death.

I only vaguely recall Hirshan Ali but wasnt she the one who was condemmed because she effectively said in the US that everyone in Gaza is a terrorist in one of her key note speaches or was it in a magazine. I do remember reading something she wrote a while back in the Economist or some such magazine

Sorry for your experience but it's hardly fair to band a whole faith under that umbrella, that also is a cultural thing not a religious one, after all if it was against the religion how would non-muslims be getting married to muslims?

And being a nightworker i move about alot during the night and been assaulted 7 times the last 15 years, and all by a gang of muslim kids who has been out drinking and think its fun to harass other people for not "respecting them" meaning i didnt show i feared them when i saw them.
Surely you can see something wrong with that, alcohol is forbidden in the religion so what makes you think they care about any of the other parts of the faith. What makes them worse than any other group of louts who are pissed out their skulls?

And seeing headlines in magazines that says 3 year old Afghan girl married to her cousin, dont help our western view on islam.
Again a cultural thing, in western society it is not viewed kindly to marrying your cousin for example yet many people do across the globe (most royal families for example have been inbred for generations)
I dont know about that particular case but it is still practiced that kids are promised to suitors in some societies (often poor families who want their kids to be married into money), by their family i dont think a girl as young as that can actually marry someone

Not having a go at you but people seem to have difficulty seperating culture from religion tbh
