That chill factor place looks rather nice lit-up, whilst they were building it it had a very ominous feel

That first one there Tom, it reminds me of something like Ravenholm or Silent Hill!

I like the first one too; interesting atmopshere :)

Sadly I don't have Photoshop or the likes on this computer, so I can't refine the stitches, but attached you can see a couple of recent panoramas. One is from a roof garden in Taiwan. This winter has been (relatively) freezing, but at least we still get sunshine. The other photo is on a very cold and rainy day in Hong Kong. Trying to balance an umbrella and take photos is not recommended :(

Kind regards

Jonty, download autostitch - its totally free and really quite superb at stitching images together. If you do it right, they become near-seamless.

I went out on the bike today and played around a bit more:

Thats 2 images. This next one is about 10:

Hi guys

I went to Tokyo at the weekend to see the cherry blossom (unbelieveably beautiful). Sadly a lot of the detail is lost when these images were resized, but you can still get an impression of the place.

Kind regards

smashing stuff Jonts, my ex and I had plans to go for the cherry blossom viewing too. Aparantly iirc the Japanese speak of it as beautiful in all phases, ie the budding, flowering, and the falling of the petals to lie on the ground. Do you know anything of that?

Hi TdC

To be honest, I'm not an expert, I only know a little about sakura and hanami viewing parties. However, I'm sure most people can't fail to be moved by it. The buds and blossom are beautiful both at a distance and closeup, and when the wind blows the petals fall like snow. There are also numerous types of blossom, many different colours, and each place has it's own feel (cherry trees line streets, offices, parks etc.).

So many couples were walking hand-in-hand or picnicing in the parks; very romantic :) Although it only lasts for a short period of time, I would definitely recommend visiting if you ever get the chance (and, if you're feeling bitter, you can send your ex a postcard ;)).

I was very impressed with the Japanese when I went. There were tens of thousands of people in one of the main parks, but everything was completely safe, no crowd control, everyone just sitting, chatting, eating, drinking (a lot of drinking, actually, hehe) and having a good time together. Sadly I can't imagine the same thing going off so peacefully in the UK.

Kind regards

Jonty

P.S. For anyone interested, Japan Guide was very helpful when planning my trip, and Google Maps has insanely detailed maps of Tokyo (but all in Japanese).

When I went to japan, I was there for 3 days. All of which were spent in a pub/bar.

I don't remember seeing anything like Jontys pictures! :p

Taken from Ax-les-Thermes in the south of France. Click for 50%-of-full-size pics.

The first 2 are from the same set of pictures but, annoyingly, there was a big chunk missing from the bottom right corner when I got home to put them together, so it was either a reasonably tall not-so-wide stitch or a very wide not-so-tall one... I really wanted this to be a complete panorama because I was right on the very peak of the mountain but it didn't quite work out like that - I think the wider pic comes out at something like 320 degrees. (24 pics)

Hastily snapped while half-tumbling down the mountain... (6 pics)

The last two are from the chair lift on the way down... (both 6 pics)

I know, I know, holy thread necro etc.. but I remembered this thread and don't like making new ones when an old one will suffice. :)

There's a slight, um, hosting mishap, atm.. and I can't find a free image site that will host such large images (I tried a few and they all resized the pics - they seem to allow large filesizes but restrict the actual dimensions ) so normal service will resume shortly.. or something. :(
