I've been having a play around with google maps and stumbled across this and this
Using this, with my semi-limited knowledge of PHP and the PHP manual. I wrote a piece of PHP that would stitch together a series of images, with the idea of being able to make snazzy wallpapers. The results can be seen in My gallery.

You may have noticed I've not linked my little PHP program, this is:
a) Because of the fact it would probably kill my server, and
b) I have no idea on the legitimacy of the images made

I can give you the source if you want, but I'd like to check if someone else (ie: Jonty) would know the copyright status of the images

What I have got online is my World Sports Grounds Aerial Photos collection, 138 locations and counting :D

Hi Jingle

Clever scripting and nice results :D Sadly I must agree with both points made, hosting this script would probably sap your bandwidth no end and the images would remain subject to Google's copyright under the Berne Convention, even if your case arguably stood a chance in the UK. That said, I doubt Google would take legal action over a nice script like this, there are many other cool uses of Google Maps, hence the API :)

Great work Jingle :D

Kind Regards

Nice, but Google would politely ask you to take it down, and then they'd come at you with lawyers if you didn't (there was another tool very similar to this that got taken down). Party because the data is not copyright Google.
