I had the same trouble with a connexant pci modem. Swapped it for a USB one, problem solved. BT had me checking the filters all round the house first though and I had to disconnect the telephone line to the SKY digital box.

oh plaps.

I have a connextant pci modem and it drops connection lots. I assumed it was pipex being quite lame.

Does anyone else get that really REALLY annoying clicking noise when it tries to reconnect?

i somehow got rid of the ding, and i hear the modem clicking yeh... but what annoys me the most is when i reboot the connextant software creates shortcuts on my desktop! every bloody time! (yes i know its easy enough to delete them, but i'd rather not do it every time i turn on my pc, or log in)

Oh god I hate that. I just give up, and leave them there. They're like the only icons on my desktop :|

Mark them as hidden?

I do this with the Links folder in IE as if you delete it, it is recreated

OMG! You get rid of the Links folder?? I couldn't do without it. Single click bookmarks... None of that clicking favorites milarky and drilling down the folders.

Then again, Im a lazy bastisch, and if I could map bookmarks to Cntrl-<Key> settings, I would... I dont like moving my hands from the keyboard to the mouse at the best of times, so when I do, what I want had best be one mouse click away.

or you can just stick it in the favourites folder so you dont even have to scroll to the links folder, and go across etc

Ahh, but that means you have to have the favorites folder showing down the left hand side of your browser which eats into the size of the main window.

If you unlock the toolbars, then you can drag the links toolbar to under the address bar and then you dont have to scroll to the links bar. It takes up the same amount of room as something like the BarryBar which is minmal.

I suppose it goes down to personal preference. I prefer less clicking with the most amount of display space.

it means i can go to 'Favorites' along the top of the window, where 'File' and 'Edit' is and stuff and it will bloom into a menu of links for me. rather than sticking the bookmarks into a folder called links in the favourites menu, which would involve further scrolling for lazy bastards like me :)

Ahhh, but you are missing the beatuy of the Links Tool Bar. If you had it as below, then your links are one click away compared to your two.

You cant teach an old lazy bast like me new tricks :D
