BT were due to complete the roll out of FTTC in my area/exchange for DEC. That's now been put back to March ><.

What other companies are offering FTTC other than BT? I really hate BT since my isdn days. They are offering Unlimited (*coff* bollox) for £25 a month 18month contract also FUP is 300gig. A lot can change in 18months.

The only other companies I have seen are talking peak and off peak shizzle and cba to go back to that.

Hoping something is released from 02 or BE prior to March, if not im tempted to sit it out, rather than go back to BT.

Good news is when I do get Fibre it will be "estimated" 37down 9up.

Link to see if and when its available in your area, BT Infinity – How to get fibre optic broadband

I reckon it's all down to BT. If they have not setup the infrustructure yet then you will have to wait!
Or get Virgin Media...or Sky

Mine is only due to be in place by July!!

I got this in about 6 weeks ago.

It's been fucking brilliant so far. 4.5mb/s download speed - I downloaded all 9Gb of Witcher 2 in 20 mins or so.

37mb connection speed, so pretty close to the 40mb quoted maximum. I was told initially I would "only" get 31mb, but it's never been lower than 35mb, and even then only temporarily.

Yes it's BT, and they do have occasional problems (such as disconnections from Battle.net when I'm trying to raid in WoW), but the overall speed is definitely worth it. Plus it's completely unlimited - just as well, I did over 100gb last month without really trying tbh. If I tried pushing it, I could hit 500gb (hell, a full TB and more) easy, but unfortunately I haven't got the hdd space atm to cope with that per month ;)

I used to be with Bethere.co.uk and whilst their service generally was excellent, I was only on ADSL2+ and getting 5.5mb connection speed and 640k downloads, so a massive jump in speed.

Be are talking and faffing about with FTTC, but I was told by their customer service staff that they wouldn't be rolling it out to my area for another year at least, so the lure of the fastest broadband I've ever had by far was too tempting to resist. And like I said, bar the odd problem with WoW/Battle.net peering issues, it's absolutely been worth it because I can download as much as I like (P2P/Torrents are throttled, but they're so 2007, dahling) and they won't do a thing.

Plus sometime soon they're doubling the speed for free, which will get silly stupidly fast speeds.

I'm so pissed about FTTC rollout here. Shitty rural exchanges are getting it ahead of major suburbs which is really really frustrating.

Not really...I got it in my standard west london borough ages ago. Not bought it yet, mind.
