Apart from Yaka's lastest post, which needed a bit of tweaking...

The news page is there for news. If you look at the posts there are 3 at present that are article based which have sparked debate and converstation.

All news pages are a list of links to other things :). Apart from press releases, game release schedules, articles, demo releases I have posted... they are not all links to other sites?

If anyones has suggestions on what else I can add to the news let me know.

Personally i like the news page, its often given me a heads up on things i normally would of missed.

If you don't like it then simply ignore it, how is it a burden to you if it's there?

Firstly as Bullitt said if you don’t like it then don’t read it.

Secondly if you take a look at the news page and actually take note of the amount of views each news story is getting, then you will see that it is a fairly popular feature of this site.

Thirdly do you realise that the people who provide the content for this section do this on a VOLUNTARY basis and spend a lot of time doing it? Sometimes spending hours just searching for stories. These people have lives and jobs as well. They do not have countless hours to sit down and write extensive articles. You mentioned the links in your above rant... The links that are there are backing up the content in the story and give readers the opportunity to read into it further if they wish.

Personally I think that if you are going to start a thread like this then you need to actually look at what you are posting about in some detail and back up your view with actual evidence. Also if this post was a bit more constructive for example: by actually discussing your view in detail and providing reasons for your view. Maybe even giving suggestions for the improvement of the section? Then it would have encouraged a healthy debate instead of just annoying everyone.

The news page I see is exactly what I expect when I visit gaming orientated forums and I find it quite useful. What would you expect?
