My guide to how much I hate this heat - I detest getting up early, and voluntarily left home at 5am rather than my normal 8:30 in order to make a 200 mile journey more bearable.

I may well call in sick at work; three days without sleep and I'm just about ready to start hallucinating

You should, the heat is obviously hitting your worse than most, the last thing you can afford to do is lose concentration when traveling and end up causing an accident.

Yeah, I can't deal with heat at all, even the low 20s is too hot for me. But then I walk around in a T-shirt in January.

That said, even the people I know who like hot weather are keeling over in what we're currently enduring.

I'm the same with heat - gave in when they predicted 35 degrees for us this week and bought 200 quid air con unit from Homebase and even in our large bedroom running 4 computers it kept it bearably cool. But if a 200 quid air con unit isn't an option I survived the previous heatwave with a bowl of cold water under the desk to keep my feet in. (It warms up quite fast though so you need to keep topping it up)

We use the term groupie these days and does her mum know you have her turned on in your room? :p

Oh yes she does, she even tried to steal her and use her herself during the night ;<

You'd think after going on holiday and experiencing permanent 30+ temperatures and 75%-85% daily humidity I'd barely notice this UK heat :eek7:

I might be off to Durban in South Africa this November, no idea how I am going to cope with that to be honest. It will be early summer in the southern hemisphere by the time I get there and my friend who was born in Durban has said it can hit 40c at times with 90%+ humidity, sounds like hell

Temperatures are around that in Summer in Singapore too, but I didn't go during summertime. 85% humidity was enough, and it's horrible. Thankfully every building/transport is air conditioned there, but when you're out and about it's horrible :p When you first step out of the Airport into such high humidity it feels.. weird.

I spent most of my time in the Hotel pool :)

I had a stopover in Singapore once and I remember going with a friend who was going to have a smoke ... I spent about 0.7 seconds outside with him and then I fled back into the airco :p

I don't tan for jack shit, fucking sucks sitting out in the sun for ages for the sole purpus of getting a tan, and it does nothing at all >;/

this is why you go to solariums at winter to work on your tan for the summer (or is that just me)

35 degrees this afternoon, 31,5 degrees in my bedroom at this moment.

The vierdaagse in Nijmegen (a walking event) canceled yesterday because 2 ppl died at the event with many in hospital because overheating. Those temeratures are normaly in mid summer in south France.

I'd be tempted to do that, but if randomly one day i came back home with a tan, i don't think my family/friends would recognise me :p

It's ridiculous, this fuckin' awful heat just never ends. This is already one of the worst summers I can remember. We'd better have an extremely cold and snowy winter to compensate for having to endure all this crap now.

Why the fuck are you moaning about something you can't change? You have the power to fix it via air con more fans etc but nooo you just sit on here whining like a Korean school girl. I wish this weather was the norm, hate freezing my fucking bollocks off when I leave to ride to work.

So put some more clothes on, ya wuss. It's a damn sight easier to warm up than it is to cool down.

So...I put on enough cloths to be warm when leaving th house..2 miles in to the ride im sweating my cock off because obviously I got warmer during the ride..so I have 2 choices in the winter.

Leave cold arrive not sweaty
Leave warm, sweat like a **** and arrive at work like a wet minge.

Or have summer,

Leave in thin cloths, hardly sweat at all and not once am I cold.

+ Before you say why don't you sweat in summer, its because of the breeze :(

"only 30C"...lol...30C is very hot, and a lot of people - myself included - find it very unpleasant. The myth of "hot = good" only exists in some people's minds, it's by no means how everyone feels. I'm currently having serious problems with sleep deprivation (I got no more than 6-7 hours' sleep all week, and am practically hallucinating as a result) caused by the appalling heat of last week, and if another week of this very hot weather is coming then it's just going to even more trouble for me.

I take it you mean, "even hotter"...? No, of course not - I hate the heat, why the hell would I go somewhere even hotter than what we're currently suffering here?

Not a question of "daren't", more a question of common sense. If it's extremely hot, I don't want to go there anyway...I'm more than happy to miss those parts of the world. I'd be so flattened by the heat I wouldn't be able to function anyway, quite apart from finding it extremely unpleasant 24/7.

Think of it this way: if you hate cheese, how sensible would it be to book yourself in on a cheese-tasting holiday?

:D

If the hot weather really is that much of a problem for you Svart then surely it would be wise of you to invest in things to cool your house down e.g. air con, ceiling fans etc...

While you cannot change the weather there are certainly things you can do to make yourself more comfortable and people have been suggesting things by the bucketload on here to try and help you. If you choose to do none of these and still whine then I'm sorry but I'm afraid you might have lost any sympathy I had for you.

And almost every one of those things has no effect whatsoever, or only works for about 5 minutes. Put ice in front of/behind the fan? Yeah, it has almost no perceptible effect and the ice completely melts in 20 minutes because of the heat. To name but one.
