Title says it all...

A friend of mine commited suicide a couple of days ago and I just heard about it. I`m completely stunned.

I know that he was suffering from depressions for quite some years, had been in therapy and couseling and everything. I spent some nights together with him drinking and chatting about his problems when he was on a downer. Still, it´s hard to believe that he had to take this final step. I guess I have to accept his decision.

In any case, it was his choice and no one is to blame.

Sometimes things get too hard and you couldn't have helped if he was determined.

Keep your chin up, don't give in to dark thoughts (as often come), remember the good times and live your life to honor him, without ill thought.

Best wishes.

Depression. Says it all. I have lost 2 friends, one very close, to suicide due to depression. I dont think there is enough awareness about depression and people think its just when you are feeling a bit under the weather.

I saw what my mate went through and totally understand why he killed himself. I dont like that he did it, but I understand why he did it.

This is what you have to do Thorwyn.

I know first hand what depression is like, its not a good thing at all. People dont know enough about it and like said above think its just not feeling too good. Its alot worse than that

I got through it luckily with the help of my friends, didnt get that bad thankfully.

Sorry to hear the news mate

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Thorwyn.
I think its a hard thing to do so I would respect their decision. Dont fall into the "yeah but I could of done X" mindset. Your friend must have been happy that you spent time talking about things together.

Sorry to hear mate, but as Seel said, keep thinking about the good moments you had with him, not about the sad moments.

My condolences

I know that I never had a chance to save him. What´s making me sad about this particular case is, that he had it for so long and that he had all the help he could possibly get, both professional and friend-wise. It´s a fooking shame.
Well... I`m gonna have a bottle of red wine in his memory tonight.

I lost a classmate a couple of weeks ago. Totally out of the blue too. He didn't show any signs of depression or anything (are there any signs if they are quiet about it ?), think he aced all classes, had work, had a GF.

Then after an exam period he had jumped from his window.

Well, the moment you think you have someone figured out... thats the moment you are completely wrong :(

I'm so sorry to hear this sweetie, the thing with depression is you can have all the help and understanding in the world but it won't actually help inside your head. The only person who can cure it is the sufferer.

Take care of yourself honey

Sorry for your loss bud.

It happened to me a few times in the past 10 years. The few of them that happened to their families and me/friends alike. To find out that the person did it for no other reason than just being selfish/stupid or afraid is just devastating.

Suicide really is the very last straw. I've come close to it twice myself after being driven and pushed so far and over the edge that I know what it takes for someone to snap like that.

I wouldn't do it now - simply because I've had almost everything there is as a bloke to have had thrown at him. I think that if I did do that now, I expect people to feel ashamed of me because I've been through so much. I guess that in some respects, I've become a comforting rock to some of the people that I know in real life...

I know that what I've written here will be of little comfort to you but once again, truly, I am sorry for your loss.

Kid i went to Primary School with hung himself second week into Secondary School because of bullying it was an eye opener but it did not really register until a reunion years later.

I have had dark thought's before and when i was around 18 i considered suicide, but never seriously. I think you do need the right mind for Depression to seriously set in and take you that low.
