Thinking of 21 staff, 18 enhance, 8 parry for BG1. Would that be any good or is there a better template?

Thanks :)

Okay.. so:

21 +5 = 26 staff
18 enhance
7 + 5 = 12rejuv
4 + 5 = 9 parry

Parry is abit low here.. you sure that's no problem?

like ya gonna parry a lot anyway

nukes is what kills you 99% of the time, so don't worry about parry

Your buffs wil make up for lack of parry though

It's even worse: I can solo oranges easily, and some reds too :)

Exept those damn butterflies on salisbury plains with their wicked AF buff making me miss 5 times in a row. Takes so much mana to heal :(

Friars are awesome.. really.. should have made one right away :)

bloody weekend friars !!!
be quiet plz !

some of us dont want to be nerfed >.<

but specs not bad remember parry %s are doubled on whole for using a 2h weapon and cure poison is a life saver as 80% of bg alts are cave shammys

hehe, any melee class that can't beat thans 1 on 1 is gimped :)

Almost managed a Saracan Armsman the other day... well played for someone who is RR2 to beat a RR4 thane...

Still, friars are nice and easy to nuke from battlements... can shoot back :D

If you want to try somethign different, my friar on the bg is specced

18+5 rejuv
16+5 staff
12 enhance
10+5 parry

That spec all down to a cockup on the respec at level 20, but I love him all the same :) Grabbed mcl with my 3 ra points, meaning I can heal for about 1500 points before my mana pool runs out if it is ready. Usually that attracts attention from enemy tanks but I can still give a fair kicking to most classes out there :p If I had any piety on my armour, I'd probably get a few more heals off too I think. I would often group with a merc or armsman and go off in small groups and the rejuv resulted in a few serious against-the-odds wins, 2 vs 5 hibs, 3 vs 5 mids. Not to mention it rarely takes more than about 4 seconds and little power to be fully healed after any fight. Of course if you want to run around solo, it's not the best spec for you, but the low enhance doesn't affect me that much. Most of the time I forget to even use my lower level haste at all :p The only problem I have is with missing enemies because of my slightly low staff which can be annoying but doesn't happen enough to cause me too many problems. Losing the 21 evade style isn't really a problem as figure eight seems to do ample damage and the follow up with the short stun is great too. Plus figure eight just looks cool :)

It all comes down to play style I guess. If you want to have a good chance vs all classes including bezerkers/champs, full battle spec is great. I just get my kicks keeping mages alive while they have hamster mode zerkers chomping them, or allowing one armsman to hold back almost an fg of mids :) Rejuv is at least a form of ranged 'attack' a friar has, as keeping a tank alive is almost the same as doing damage to the enemy. Also don't forget that taunt. It's bloody useful in the battlegrounds. Interupts archers so they usually only get one shot off on you, can bea lifesaver, interrupting mages, and is most useful vs enemy bards/healers as they are trying to cast an ae mezz :) Also casting it on a chanter pet as it casts has the side effect of making them forget they can cast spells and a meleeing underhill companion isn't anythign to be worried about :)

Whatever you do, you can't go wrong with a friar (well maybe going 1 staff, as I couldn't solo blues after my respec booboo :p) and we are never short of healers in thid, even if you suck at healing :)
