Warlord pally in assist train and BG friar for defense.
Pally would be too far away for fast BG anyway, and friar can just sit back, heal and BG where needed.

Everyone wins.

Paladin on the train. Reaver for bodyguard.

Just slam the train one by one and side style lifetap to keep yourself alive, + it gives the group twf3.

I'd prefer a pala.

Friars get 1-hit by the enemy assist-train.

Are u joking?? My friar have 34/31/31 slash/crush/thrust 2600hps scepther charge 2750 718 AF...
Can easy have assist train on me without dieing, even with banespike/battler up ´Cleric seems to be keeping me alive without big trouple...

Sucky tanks you've been fighting then. On vent when i play my healer, i often hear tanks going for friar, and it's just stun, whack, whack, and it's dead. But maybe you haven't had the pleasure of meeting tanks that actually style and take advantage of stun yet.

Thats a rly "sucky" friar then... And i guees some clerics are better healers than other then..

Arethir had a nice point about the stunning tho. If an assist train goes for a target which might run off or evade/block loads, it's very likely that they'll stun it, in which case a pala would last a fair bit longer than a friar, regardless of how tweaked that friar is. If you get slammed the friar's evasion won't help you, so you're better off with the pala's higher AF and abs, aswell as som/battler/malice charges, which you won't all have on a friar.

Seriously, even if the friar has 400 hps, 101 con, 101 dex, 50 AF or whatever in his template. If 2+ tanks can't kill a stunned, battler'd and banespike'd friar within seconds, they're not good dmgdealers! Even if one of the clerics were free and spamming single target large heal on him, he'd still go down.

But, why bother arguing about this, if you aint gonna believe me anyways. Have you ever tried out playing in hib/mid gg's though? And actually seeing the assist train on the friar? It's not a hard to kill target. Ask the enemy realms, friars won't make the tanks give up and run away (unless he drops ST), they just kill him instead.

celerity + warlord 2h pala in assist train ftw.

BG + resists + end regen reduction friar is good.

But I would go with a friar if I would make a caster group. And pala if tank group.

718 AF and 15% absorb vs 1000 AF and 34% absorb..

the paladin should take a lot less damage, however the friar also has a HoT running and if not stunned they have lots of fun evade.

Paladin has to twist their resist chants, friar has theirs on a 10m timer.

if you get a stun+melee assist train on the friar the friar will probably die faster.

If you get a caster assist I'm not sure who dies quicker.

I think it's gonna be a hard choice between paladin, friar and armsman come 1.83 - and that's how it should be.

removed the poll from this as it's not needed ;) and polls are prone to ressurecting themselves :p

I wouldn't mind my pala getting some love tbh, have to see how it pans out though. Friars are very nice all-round and a current group essential so Im not busting out the party poppers and white lightning just yet :)

I would have Voed for the pally,

RR6+ pally with Toughness 5 and CL 5 will have over 3k HP, IIRC you can get just over 1080AF tbh hes not going down anytime soon with a good cleric in the group,

not 100% sure what HP friars get but even with toughness 5 I doubt it over 2500HP, and when there sell buffs drop they are pritty much dead.
