Got any to suggest?

Want to put this machine on "lockdown" and purify it so to speak.

you mean with a special "lockdown" function?

We done a review in college on AVG 8.0

It's the best you'll get for free.

Theres better out there, ones you have to pay for but you dont...if you catch my drift!

Nah i got peerguardian which keeps things off rather nice, just want to clean up a bit and maybe protect some more as this machine accesses more naughty places then my gamemachine.

Thanks for ze info, reps ahoy.

Avast or AVG are your best options, Nod32 is probably the best option if you decide to buy something.

Personally I prefer Avast because AVGs update system can get locked in an infinite loop sometimes and its a pain to actually properly uninstall it completly.

Panda Active Scan is good :) its an online scan done through ur browser, other than that I use Bit-defender (anti virus) Spybot Search and Destroy (anti spyware) ccleaner (nice program for clearing ur internet history+temp internet files thoroughly, also has a registry repair tool built in)

be careful if you're installing 2 AV products. some don't get along at all! though mostly it seems to be norton that has the most trouble getting along with others, you can sometimes find the system slowing down or becoming unstable with 2 there. depends very much on which 2 it is, and while i haven't tried running those 2 together, all i can say is if you get any stability issues, remove 1 of them and see if that fixes it.
my personal recomendation btw would be for AVG, been using it for years now, never had a problem at all.

I use AVG still, it says you need to upgrade occasionally, but it still updates everyday and works perfectly fine for me.
