Free money in Wales : Would you return it ?

Police have appealed to people to return thousands of pounds which was thrown into the air on a pedestrian crossing in Aberystwyth. The man was heard to shout: "Who wants free money?" seconds before hurling the cash into the air in Alexandra Road.

Would you return it ?

If the police could prove the money was stolen or counterfeit or dodgy in some way, yes I would return it but if the money belonged to the guy throwing it away then I wouldn't think twice about pocketing it.

If the guy was stupid enough to throw it away in the first place then thats his fault, regardless of who's money it was in the first place. If it was stolen by little old ladies and then thrown away then I'd be 90% certain that a) there'd be insurance covering this sort of thing, and b) the money I'd give back probably wouldn't go back to the original owner anyway and c) I'd be in more need of the cash anyway, having debts to pay off etc

if the money was his to give away and there were no other strings to it then I might keep it. (although saying that if someone did eventually come to me and ask for the money back I would most likely just give it back)

if the money was not his to give ie stolen or whatever then I would ofc hand it in.

if the person was mentally ill or something which made judgement of actions an issue then I would hand it back.

if nobody asked for it back then I would keep it. if asked for it back then they can have it back, I wouldnt be any worst off, and Im not greedy.

If i found a wallet with money in and someones information to where it could be returned, i would return it either to them or the police.

If i found a £10 20£ note on its own i would keep it!

if i found someones wallet ofc i would hand it in, i would keep the money if some guy checked it in the air like that, same as i would if i found money on the street, the police would only spend it on food anyway.

if it wasnt stolen etc an the guy wasnt mentally unstable an was giving it away then it is a gift of sorts so u could keep it imo.
bit different to keeping money from a lost wallet cos chances are the person wants it back so if u keep it u r stealing from em in a way.

If the police were able to show that the money was stolen or anything, then I would hand it back.

Chances still are though that I'd be too lazy to pick up the darn money

To add to the if's and but's people said etc for other situations, I used to work at an arena and often found money, which added to my wage!

Though wallets i'd hand in though usually someone else in the crowd had found it first and took the money but when money was inside, that'd be mine too

Money is hard to prove is yours because no normal person memorises the serial numbers to every note in their wallet so
