Hi guys,

Just came here from the Game.Net forums where I used to visit sometimes. The new forums seems to be fine, but what I want to know is what are you going to do with the actual site, are you going to make it into anything?

Many thanks,

Khan

...and if you aren't, could you perhaps put up a page linking to the site, or even just redirect straight to it?

It just seems a little untidy saying "You don't have permission to access / on this server", although I am of course pleased to see Apache running :)

I hope this doesn't happen right away, BW did prove that an attempt at content is worse than no content.

The original BW news posting was the original reason I started to visit BW. Maybe a larger News team would be better than just one or two AND they could always feed from a couple of other sites via RSS or the like ;)

I had some thoughts on this last night so here goes:

The problem with gaming sites is keeping them updated, so unless you have a huge team of people writing content then your in trouble.

I think there is a real opportunity for someone (the FreddysHouse team) to build up a really big UK network of smaller gaming sites, each gaming site publishes data that can be shown on the network hub (FreddysHouse Site) via XML and RSS (beacuse it's universal).

So where do you get these sites... simple, they are already around. Find a group of well established gaming sites based in the UK and see if they are willing to join the new UK network. In exchange for published data the become apart of a big network of users and site visitors.

You could have a 'game spy' like planet system but without forcing template crap (that doesn't go down to well with people who run the sites beacuse it's never thier site...if that makes sense).

With this system you could pull all the data into a hub site, creating free content from many different sources that is already been updated by the network sites, they just have the opportunity to become a part of something bigger.

What does everyone (and the freddyhouse admins) think?

Sounds good but I don't have the time nor the knowledge to knock up a site. Any takers?

I already have had offers from someone to be a content monkey...

I would be more than willing to offer my services as a developer, e-mail me at khan@uklans.com if you are interested, I could also offer my site as the first of a network site.

Let me know,

Sounds like a lot of needless bollocks, to me.

But that's just my opinion. Don't think you should rush anything.

yeah rushing things always leads to trouble, but it would be nice to see lots of updated news and that would certainly be a good way of publishing it.

Where does Technation stand? If it was a BW hosted site is it moving over here? What about any of the leagues that manage to find alternative servers, will Freddy host their sites for them?

Again all of this sounds like too much of a rush to get everything over here in some way, I say let the forums get sorted first and settled and then start looking at other stuff.

embattle I see what you are trying to say but why can't they both happen at the same time, if different people are working on the different areas then they will not have an impact on the other.

I do however think the FreedysHouse admins really need to think about what they are going to offer in the terms of services, because I don't think just the forums is enough.

Yes but that sounds very business like, which imo caused a number of the past problems.....perhaps having a loose sort of plan would be all right but certainly nothing solid.

To me its a question of a website....but for what reason?

I think y'all need to stop jumping the gun. If everything were to be replaced, then there is a damn long list. Right now the forums are way more than enough because where there is an ability for discussion a community can be built. News pages, etc are nice but are "surf to, surf past" in the long run.

I think your all right, maybe some thinking needs to be done about what freddyshouse is going to be, planning is still a good thing, especially when websites are concerned.. even hobby sites, it's just good practice.

Also, I think a site will need to be developed if newbies are wanted on the forums, otherwise why else would new people join?

Khan

Nice ideas. I'm somewhat already part of a thing like that except I'm trying to support all gsps, or should I say, remaining gsps. IE, http://www.onlinegaminghub.net ( site currently undergoing updates )
