Strange but I suffer more jogging on the Freddy one than the EA UK ones, even though they are both via MP.

Speaking of jogging - does everyone get the thing were it's horribly jittery for the first say 2minutes of a new map loading, then plays fine for the rest of that map?

Hmm - I assumed it was my machine and so would happen regardless of server. It did continue for ages on one server, but that was on a mahooosive map - one that I'd not been on before - don't remember which.

Well I just had a great day mucking about with Gale and Starman on the server. It's been a great server to play on - no plebs thus far.

Big thankyou goes to Gale. First class! If you do want contributions for the server count me in.

Why the hell isn't there a favourite server function in the server browser - and no friends function? Lame!

Its been universally agreed that the ingame broswer sucks balls.....I doubt the changes they plan to make will make much difference to that :)

I get random flashes of 'there is a problem with your connection' all the time. Just for a second or so, but it seems to happen on most servers, so I'm beginning to think its my connection or RAM (despite having 2Mb of one and 1Gb of the other).

Yeah, blame yourself :p
Its THEM, evil EA, they have brought out another beta game, dont worry, one or two more patches and it will be ok :D
And it will be worth persevering with, this is a good game :)

nat, you may like to take alook at this thread.

But I will also quote the following -

Understanding the Ranks

Battlefield 2's ranking system allows you to gain rank as you accumulate points by playing on ranked servers. All points (teamwork, combat, and command) are included in the rank calculation, so feel free to play whatever class you like.

There are twelve known ranks:

1. Private -- 0 Points (Starting rank)
2. Private First Class -- 500 Points
3. Lance Corporal -- 1000 Points
4. Corporal -- 10,500 Points
5. Sergeant -- 25,000 Points
6. Staff Sergeant -- 50,000 Points
7. Gunnery Sergeant -- 75,000 Points
8. Master Sergeant and 9. First Sergeant -- 150,000 Points*
10. Master Gunnery Sergeant and 11. Sergeant Major -- 250,000 Points*
12. Sergeant Major of the Corps -- 2,500,000 Points

Upon reaching the rank of Lance Corporal (1000 points), you'll be able to choose your first unlockable weapon. You can unlock any weapon no matter which class you played -- for example, you can earn all your points as a Medic and then choose to unlock the M-95 sniper rifle.

Players with higher rank higher rank will have priority when they apply for Commander position in a match. Also, the highest-ranked player will take control of a squad if its leader leaves.
Quoted from http://vd9.net/bf2ranks/

Note from what I gather these are all estimates as when I reach 1000 points I didn't increase in rank. Not till I reached 1080 points. So it will vary from person to person.

At the beginning of games [maybe the fiirst mminute or two] i get very low fps [ok about 36 or so] Watching my HDD its still laoding up loads of stuff, after the first minute or so tho its all fine and goes back too its normal top notch performance.

I have noticed tho that there are some dropped packets. ie you turn and move...but then get warped back to facing the other way and get shot in the ass...

I've asked MPUK about this but no answer yet.

I found what i had to do was close the client, open it again..get the promtion...then close it again and reopen to get the weapon upgrade option.

The G36C is a pretty tasty weapon.

Tonight i'll put the server into passworded mode and we can have a try at somethign called 'Supply Lines' which is installed on the server

The bit's where it seems it's dropping packets and you continue to 'glide' in the same direction then warp back I *believe* is related to PB. AFAIK there's a regular interval (which can be changed in a .con file) at which PB checks for updates etc. I've heard people mention this as the problem and it seems to be regular, although I've never timed it to check.
