Right as i got ticked off trying to get onto the ranked servers and the general passiveness or removing giots from these servers I have placed an order for a Brand Spanking new BF2 server...thats ranked, 64 players with voice and the fruit...joy

Its due for delivery at the weekend.

Once its running i'll leave it open during the day but in the evening i'll password it, kick everyone off and put the password in the freddy channel for the freddites to use

When i get the final details through i'll post them up so people can note down the IP etc.

This will run till we can get our own ranked FH server..or till the moths get my wallet..hoepfully the former

got bf2 yesterday under a friends recommendation. cant stop playing. tottaly rules. helicopter is hilarious fun learning to drive. just a shame every1 gets pissed at me for being sucha noob.

This now makes me want them to NOT change passworded servers to never give rank, although I agree fully with the reasons for making the change if they do.

Seen some highly suspicious screenshots of play scores on some clan ranked passworded servers (3 players almost at 1000, one at 0, hmmm).

It'll be nice to not have to repeatedly refresh, carefully wait for the activity light on the switch for me to stop flickering, and then madly scroll through the list looking for free slots on ranked servers .

Yup didn't want to bring up that the passwording of ranked servers is not possible after the next patch And it looks like the reserved slot system wont be in for it... hopefully they get that in quick or BF2 could die a very quick death.

Hmmm, I wonder if any fiddling with firewalling ports would allow for a server to still work as a ranked one but not show up in browser lists. Probably not, and I doubt the hosting talked about in this thread would allow it anyway :/.

Yeah i've been reading about it over the past few days, i havn't come accross an actual EA post saying 'We will delist any passworeded ranked server' yet tho

But the MPUK guys were making some odd noises about it last night.


However


Over the weekend i'll find a few trusty FH people to make basic admins [kick and map change]

With some on IRC and i'll be in the Flashchat and IRC [button at the top] we can clear off space for any FHs who want too play.

I'll add a note in the server messages saying 'Players may be removed to allow space for Freddy community members. High ping and TKs first"


After all its our server we can play on it

But i'm still waiting ont he offical "do not password ranked servers" from EA..if anyone finds one please point it out too me.


Also the MPUK guys are coding there own 'mod' to add in reserved slots, hopefully it'll be around soon It'll bascially just kick to make room for you, High pingers first, then TKers then Low scores, or something like that.

In the servers settings file there is an option to show or hide...but i think this disables the ranked settings

I see the odd password protected ranked server now and then, I do believe it would be against the way in which ranked servers are meant to run.
