So the flat has this vented tumble dryer, I don't like it because I have to open the window and it's cold, and I don't like it.

Options are:

a) buy a tumble dryer that condenses
b) get some condensing gadget to stick on the end of the hose.
c) listen to your advice that isn't listed above

What do you say?! It's not even for me because I don't wash and I only wear 2 boxers a year then chuck them away and go commando until I find a new pair on the pavement(I don't wear anything else ever), women washing all the time. Guh.

Condenser dryers are crap. You just end up with hot wet/damp clothes.

Condensers are crap and breakdown very quickly in our experience where the vented ones go on for years.

Ravens thing looks ok if your washing is basically damp not wet but it will make your house damp as that water has to go somewhere.

I can't put a hole in the wall as it's rented :(

Cut a hole in a foam slab and tape that into the gap around the tube with the window open?

Edit: Oh or you could ask the landlord to sort it out - presumably its his drier?

Clothes only come out damp, unless you wash them in your bath. An open window suffices with our heated dryer thingy. Couple of hours for a pair of jeans to be dry.

That depends if the dryer is listed as part of the rental. Sort of like complaining you get shit reception from your phone.

If your appliances are incorrectly installed then it would make sense for any reasonable landlord to do the good thing and help his renters out. A vent in a wall isn't going to hurt him and he's likely not to piss his renters off.

The other thing is if its cold and people don't open the window the damp air could do a lot of damage over time.
