Following up on the traveltime to work thread id like to know how much sleep you usually get each night - also, is that ammount enough to take you through the day and not have you in a zombiestate by the late afternoon.

Myself i usually spend 8 hours in bed if i dont need to get up early next morning, otherwise 7 hours as i just cant relax enough to sleep too early in the evening. I can make do on 5 hours if it isnt several days in a row, anything less and im not likely to make it out the door in the morning.

If I'm not in work the day after I normally get about 10-12 hours sleep. However if I'm in early in the morning, like tomorrow, it can drop as low as 3. Thank god we've got a coffee machine at work.....

I usually get ten hours sleep. If you had dreams as manic as I do, you'd need those extra few hours to recover too. I can function on 5 hours sleep, but any less than that and my sense of humour gets increasingly surreal.

i found going on 2.5 - 3 hours sleep is not advisable. during uni in the last terms i was up at 9am on a wed, going to work at 1030pm, getting home at 4am and getting back up again at 730am and staying up till past midnight.

things get weird at that stage for me.

I sort of doze, don't really sleep anymore, but I would say between 3-4 hours for me.

I so desperately need a good nights sleep.

Infact I am sitting here refreshing FH putting off going to bed, I have had lots of beer in the hope I will sleep tonight but I doubt it. As soon as I doze off my son will come in and kick me in the head all night, he headbutted me 4 times the other night :(

I find it difficult to sleep as of late, therefore if I do manage to fall asleep, I'll be out for no longer than 2hrs sometimes a little less. I manage with that, but it's obviously not healthy. :-/

Currently getting around 10 hours a night, just because I don't need to be up.. During school, I'm quite functional with around 4-7 hours.

Voted 8+ on this though.

I've got a young daughter, so 'normal' is about 5-6 hours, otherwise there just isn't enough time in the day to get everything done. There isn't enough time with that much sleep either, but can't really function properly for long with less.

Would rather have 7-8 hours, but I try and catch up by having the odd nap at the weekend, if we're not busy doing other stuff. If someone can recommend a good pipe & slippers website for me, I reckon it's nearly time to order them :(

Past few weeks it's been 6-7 hours of heavily broken sleep but the past two nights it's been straight through. Always guaranteed to wake up at 5:30 though.

I can't function on less than 7 hours or more than 9 hours, anything in between is pretty much perfect.

At uni when I have regular early starts on weekdays, I guess I got 5-7 hours a night..

Now I'm on the summer break and I've found I just can't sleep. Its not that I can't sleep eventually once I go to bed.. its just that I don't go to bed, even if I'm absolutely shattered, drunk or whatever, and I don't know why. I wouldn't mind if I did something constructive or was out with mates someplace, but no.. leading to a zombified state the following day thanks to going to bed ~4-5am.

I've never been very good at getting to sleep though =/

When my girlfriend stays over or I've got mates staying I seem to sleep much, much better. ;s

And on dreams: On the rare occasion I can remember them / have them, they're pretty weird, but despite this they're still simply boring.

My pattern is a sort of weekly loop - I work 3 10-5's between Monday and Thursday and then a long shift on Friday and Saturday (anything from 12-16 hours). If the club randomly opens on a Tuesday or something it messes me up for the whole week. Students are back soon which means going back up to 4-5 nights a week. :(

Currently i get about 5 hours a night.

But it can be less depending on when I got o sleep, no matter what time i got to bed, can be drunk as hell. I will always wake up at 6:30 without fail....even at weekends, drove various partners nuts with this knack...although did develop the skill to sneakily sneak out of bed, shower, wash, have breaky, read email then sneak back to bed before they woke up :p

Interesting. Can I ask why exactly they're manic? PM if need be.

We all know what you're thinking ya clatty bastard ;)

As for on topic... I sleep solidly from 12-7 am and 1 hour light sleep 7-8 am most nights during the week, 8-9 hours on weekends usually.

10-12 hours atm, but I'm unemployed with no responsibility.

When I work 9-5 office jobs I can easily make do with 4-6 hours of sleep if I can relive stress properly. In my last year of uni, I was functioning on 5 hours of sleep every 48 hours for about a month and I was a total wreck. Played some computer games for an hour a day to relieve stress, and I did fine the following month.
