1) Does Shift Allowance have a higher tax bracket than the Basic wage?

2) Shift Allowance is a % of your salary, so when you get a pay rise, does the Shift Allowance also increase? or can they decide NOT to increase the Shift Allowance.

shift allowence as in like...extra for working nights sorta thing? i think the tax rate is just the same...but cos you earn more you pay more tax...

No ... shift allowance is part of your gross pay and the whole lot is taxed at the same level.

Normally a percentage increase in wages is on your gross pay. However some companies are now offering base pay rises separate from shift disturbance allowance.

Example ..... company may offer 3.5% on base pay (which all workers would get) and 3.5% on shift disturbance allowance.
Why would they do this?
Well if the pay offer is rejected then they may come back with something like 3.8% on base pay and 2.5% on shift disturbance. That way no extra money has to be forked out by the company but normally day workers outnumber shift workers and so the pay offer is accepted.
