Who was last summer's most expensive sign?? for how much?

list

So pretty much yes, 50M € for a single player whos not even a world class star and plays in a lesser league, is one of those things only Roman is able to do :)

I don't get your point.

No one spent masses of money last season, thus nobody has any?

Wenger had a £70m (100m ish euros?) transfer budget last year and bought Eduardo and Sagna for peanuts. Sagna turned out to be the best right in the league this year.

Ferguson bought Anderson and Nani last year for £17-20m a piece. 17/18 year olds with little to no experience, playing in Portugal...

Pato is only 17, again with no experience, and went for around 25m euros.

Benzema is 20, has played a few seasons at Lyon, and has a few games for France under his belt... he's hardly a new face, and basically, wouldn't cost 50m euros. Watch teams start to weigh in with bids of around £20-22m in the summer.

Where did I say nobody has money to spend??

Ive just pointed that nowadays, spending 50M € on a single player is something not in the reach of every club. And if theres any1 capable of doing it w/o hesitating, thats Abramovich.

And about Benzema. I agree hes not worth 50M €, BUT, that Lyon manager sure is a hard businessman when it comes to negotiate the transfer of his players. He already sold in the past Malouda, Diarra or Essien for fucks loads of cash, why not sell a much better player (even merchandasing wise) for 50M?? He seems to not need the money so if sum1 wants one of his player, better go with a full wallet because Houlier is not in for much haggling

Houllier isnt Lyon Manager.

True, my fault there :)
i messed his name with Aulas when referring to Lyon's manager (not coach). Houllier was the trainer 'till last summer , tho i was sure he was still in charge of the team this season.

Anyway, i'd put money on Benzema moving from Lyon in the summer and for considerably less than 50m euros.

ONly just turned 18 though, he made his first appearance a couple of months back. Moved to AC last summer at 17.

which is why he couldn't play back then.

Man U giving Ferdinand a 5 year deal for 130k a week anyone think 5 years is a bit long for a 29 year old? I know players play for longer nowadays but do you think he will still be the same at 34?

Yeah, i reckon. He's a class act Rio. Doesn't have excessive pace, so doesn't matter if he gets slow, as he's developed into a very technicaly sound centre back, and hopefully England's next captain.

Ferdinand and Vidic are as good a centre half pairing than I have seen in a long time.

Rio doesnt need the pace, his main advantage is how well he can read the game.
