Think Cho might be taking it a bit far with the war part but what he says about Brits having a hooligan reputation all over Europe for a few incidents that occured a long time a go (and we got punished for) is true. For example i have just spent 2 and a half months living in Spain to learn Spanish. Pretty much every other lesson i would have to defend Britain about something (class included Dutch, German and French people). Mostly about our party reputation. Granted places like Ibiza, Magalouf and Mallorca have a certain English "Clientele", but its totally blown out of proportion. For example i have spent sometime in these places and the worst clashes i saw was between German guys and Dutch guys. Jihad flag burning stuff, i shit you not. Also bashing us about our Empire or Iraq. Google France+Algeria and see what comes up, or try Belgium+The Congo, not pretty stuff.

Related to the game: UEFA distribute the tickets, its THEIR responsibility to ensure they have a way of making the real tickets unique. With the ticket distribution in the first place was a joke with UEFA giving more tickets to the fucking coperate sponsers than the fans and as Cho says about the venue they were asking for trouble. As for Italian football people DIED including a bloody policemen! Let alone the mafiosa style their clubs are run (see Juventus: their director of Football threw himself off a roof). But its glossed over as a cute character flaw.

Sure people have lost relatives, so have I, believe me, but I don't see why you deserve recognition for what your grand parents did. (and why the people fighting for the winning country deserves more recognition than the freedom fighters in Denmark, like Wonk says.)

Let's agree that WWII was a sad sad thing, and I might've been a bit out of order before, but it just gets tiresome hearing of how you English people are always whining about the World being against you. I've never met a single Dane, who's had anything against English people.

I love England when I'm in the country, but on this forum I'm getting a feeling that the English people loves themselves and no one else ( I do know however, that this isen't true.)

That is ok bud, I don't expect everyone to share my point of view. I am glad you can see that English football is an easy target though, now you just have to ask yourself what is UEFA's motivation.

I've had several ancestors who were freedom fighters, and died while they were fighting nazies. That's what most people tends to forget. It's not like the whole europe surrendered at once :) But yeah, that's another story, life goes on etc.

about UEFA: As I said before, they're blaming the english supporters because of their history. There have been several violent episodes up in the 80's and 90's, but the overall conditions are way better now. I think it's time for the rest of europe to follow them actually. Just take a look at the Denmark - Swe match yesterday. 3 supporters entered the field while the security guards were watching football, instead of doing their damn job. They can't control their freaking fans in Italy either. Such shit organizing would never have happened in Spain/England.

Edit: And Tasslehoff is right here. English people are not getting much more hate than anybody else here in Europe. Atleast not what I know of.

Danes are pretty cool, you guys aren't the problem. Germans, Spanish, Italians are another story sadly and there are others. We get treated very disrespectfully when in those countries and unless you are British you couldn't understand it bud.

You have no idea bud, try being British for a week in either France/Spain/Italy/Germany. The comments you get, snide little remarks and some even more openly hostile remarks. I am not saying every person in those countries are like that course but sadly an awful lot are. Of course our major problem is with the French, there is a total lack of respect there especially when you consider that we saved them twice in the last century and they still slag us off at every opportunity be it football, food, fashion, art, music or anything cultural. We get on better with the Scots and the Irish even though they have a half decent reason not to like us.

Well for a start as a country we are not made to feel that we are a part of Europe,

Some of us don't want to be part of Europe I don't even consider myself to be European.

is that to do with the attitude of the rest of europe or the UK? i dont know tbh, but from personal experience and from family members experiences working in europe in tourist industry the three worst people to have visit were eastern europeans and the british as they never cleaned up after themselves (irish come in close 4th place for cleanliness ;) )and then the germans as they arent always particular polite (or at least dont come across as such)

what bugs me is not some stung pride that the UK did more than the country im from, what bugs me is that you seem to expect the rest of europe to grovel for forgiveness at every turn, its like its a crime to criticize anything in the UK, and if you do you get "BUT WE SAVED YOU IN THE WAR!! WHY WONT YOU DO THINGS OUR WAY?!?!"

the truth of the matter is that this has NOTHING to do with WW2, it has EVERYTHING to do with 500 liverpool fans not following the rules, even the italians managed it, i agree 100% that england have the best stadiums in europe, with amazing crowd control and minimal violence, the past years event have shown that with incidents in spain, italy and even denmark just this weekend, but to say that the only reason UEFA are pissed off with liverpool is because of WW2 is a joke, and spits on every damn thing that was achieved in the war, and hell as tasslehoff said, you personally didnt do a damn thing, it was all previous generations, hell my family were involved in the danish resistance, does that make them less heroes because a country of 69 million over-ran with ease a country of less than 4 million? bullshit

oh and on the turkey stabbing thing i believe one of the main cases (as i mentioned earlier) was a leeds fan who was stabbed after mooning a bunch of turks in a very public place... behavior like that is hardly showcasing the wonderful hard-done by british tourist is it now? im not saying all english football fans are hooligans because 99% are not, im simply saying that trying to say "its ok to ignore this report, because they are still holding a grudge because of WW2" is just complete rubbish and doesn't really make any sense

edit: saw this and wanted to comment further

and you are honestly trying to convince me that a french or even worse a german wont get any comments like that? again, bullshit

hell i get it occasionaly and im a dane living in the uk for last 9 years, i dont even sound danish anymore, but as soon as people find out the remarks come out ;)

I'm Scottish, people love me when I'm abroad. Mostly because they feel sorry for me.
