Heres a link to an interview with home grown talent, speaking of how he loves the club and if they got promoted that it would mean everything to him. This is what its all about... this is football!

Now ive supported oldham all my life, where i was born, and ive got ticket stubs since 1989, we have been through really shit times, even times where i was stood collecting money to save the club from going bankrupt at clubs that were not even in the football league and they still dug deep.... but now we are playing amazing football and the last time we played anywhere near this was when we had dowie as manager with his blank cheque book. Being an oldham fan is at the moment, amazing and its shows, we sold out tickets for scunthorpe away and wolves away and the apnosphere was amazing

Now i wont go on too much more, but all you people that like football but support one of the "bigger" teams and can count the number of matches youve been to on your fingers, take some inspiration and go out and support your local team, because they need it, none of the "big" clubs will give a toss, belong to somthing and acually support a club. I seriously just want some people to give it a go..... and your only allowed to whine in this thread after you have been to two local football games!

Oldham to beat wolves tonight! I'd tell you to put a bet on but both wolves and oldham are 6/4 to win..... seems to bookies think we will win aswell! (disclaimer: if we loose you cant take the piss, ok take the piss within reason!)

And lets hope paul scoles reads this and hurrys his ass up to boundary park

Thats another problem smaller clubs come up against, people that have never been to a game seem to know exactly whats its like...

when if you havnt been you dont have a clue, like i said, go to a couple of games atleast give it a go and then if you want to go back to your armchair then thats upto you atleast you tried somthing new and no one can argue with that. Sitting there spurting abuse and not bothering to get off your ass to have a clue about whats your abusing on the other hand is quite ignorant and not the direction i wanted this thread to go in.... so please put a stop to it there.

There's a difference between watching and supporting. If you only "watch" football then you'd be right - but if you "support" a team then it's about the emotion and passion of it, not the standard of the football. So (for once) I agree with Brite in that you should support a team because of a real emotional bind, not because they are fashionable or winning all the time.

I grew up in North London and i have had a Arsenal season ticket for 11 years now. And i still go to almost every home game at the gost for nearly £50 a game if you ignore my season ticket. Dose that make me a real fan as they were my local team

The one thing that dose dissapoint me abit is my lack of away games. I have prolly been to 20 different Premier Leauge grounds Wembely and Cardif. But i have never done Champs Leauge or cup game away. I did have a ticket to Paris for the final but then i lost my job so i let my uncle go

My local club is Man Utd, live 10 mins from Old Trafford and can see it from my office at work.

I've supported them since I can remember (before the Prem started). I try to get to games as often as I can, but not being a season ticket holder means it's hard.

My girlfriend lives up in Morecambe and we sometimes (when we have spare/extra cash) get tickets for Christie Park and watch the might Shrimps in action lol.

Were currently 6th in the conference which isn't too bad. We've just got Stevenage Borough in the FA Trophy 3rd round which I might get tickets to.

Man Utd will always be my team, but I enjoy watching Morecambe when I can then heading off into the town centre for a piss up!

Used to go to watch blackpool religiously but owen oysten (chairman at the time) sold all our best players and never supported the good managers we had havn't been for almost 5 years now, but still look for the results and since his son took over control of the club it looks like things are improving might just go take in a few games

And they allways try to say their not a glory supporter, they come out with some classic reasoning like 'my dad took me to see em when i was 3 yrs old, so first team i saw' or, my second unkle suppors them, or i got a scarf when i was 6. Its so wank and so many just support em.

I myself support Arsenal, reason being where i live in the village our local team is none existant, and i wasnt really into footie atall until i was about 13. Then 1 of my good mates took me to see arsenal matches once i got into footie, so thats why i support arsenal. Also i guess i dont care about footie enough to be willed enough to support a lame local team, so rather do easy route and have myself supporting Arsenal.

Besides i can watch arsenal matches on steaming programs from Madrid, culdnt do that with Tumbridge Wells FC

Heh well yeh, i think he said it would mean the world to him if we got promoted as he wants to progress and obviously would prefer to do it with oldham as the club has the right manager and team at the moment not to mention he is an oldham supporter, if we dont get promoted i think then he will think about going but atleast he doesnt just up and off sticks at the first oppertunity

As for tonight he was pissing all over wolves taking it round 3 at a time, was laughable. Wolves themselves where good in the air and made the most of there chances but had no real quality, look average and they are a very physical side and were dragging people down and on there backs all game and when the ref ignored this stuff especially a blatant penalty and then wolves to go down the other end and score i think just got to us, as the ball wasnt falling for us in the box and we didnt get much luck, or decisions from the ref. The feeling at the end of the game from most people that was we deserved somthing out of the game, but didnt really care and now we could concentrate on the league and booing the referee off the pitch

I know people who live in london who travel to every man united game and on the flip side, I know united fans in manchester who dont go to a single game. Reason I started supporting everton? My uncle supported them and when I was 4 he bought me an everton scarf and took me to a game, and ive supported them ever since.

I have a soft spot for oldham if truth be known, as I used to play for the old oldham bears under 19s when they were in superleague and we used to train with the oldham football team from time to time. Graeme Sharp was the manager at the time

I've played footy all my life and really love the game, just wouldn't get much satisfaction from watching teams of the standard you are talking of. Well i would i suppose enjoy it but certainly not enough to give up my saturdays for.

what i mean is that these 'supporters' have no merchandise and have never been to the game, they just say man utd to be cool. Or to avoid bullying when their 5 yrs old. I renember at primary school when all the kids supported man utd, and then theyld change their team if they lost, was so lame and gay.
