...or are England playing crap in this game against Israel? They seem so flat and negative, it is like watching an Italian league game.

Discuss!

I really cant get my head around why he is STILL persisting in playing people in the wrong positions (seemingly to make sure he can get Lampard and Gerrard both in the team) when its patently bloody obvious that it screws the balance of the team completely.

No win and no goal in 5 games just isnt good enough

the problem being england have an amazing team of players that play really well during the weeks of club football but for some reason seem completely unable to perform at a national level o_O

I saw Lennon on the left Gerrard on the right and Lampard in the middle again and did not bother watching. Gerrard Hargreves should be the CM Lennon on the right and Lampard on the bench.

Based on this season at club level;

Lampard > Gerrard.

But look how many chances Lampard has had at international level. He always seems to play shit in an England shirt.

Like the same with Heskey, was always though of as crap but England always seemed to score goals and win. Maybe because he worked so well with Owen

Thats very true

But based on the World cup and games since Lampards not doing it. Maybe 2 games on the bench would shake him back up to his best form.

If you fancy boring football and rock bottom performance you should see lackluster Norway getting outplayed by Bosnia-Herzegovina reserves.

I think England did the right thing letting Sven go, the results speak for themselves, I have never seen England better. Will the english press start writing about how fucking stupid they are themselves for making Sven go?

But this is international level. (Different team mates vs different kinds of teams) Lampard is playing crap for england and so should be dropped to the subs bench.

Tsss, the english team is the greatest ever put on a football field. Their players are perfect, nothing can match them! Hence, it must be the coaches fault, and don't forget that they won the world cup 39 years ago.

Players like Beckham have made our team into tarts! Give more players like Terry who actually dont care if they hurt themselves!

I hate to watch England, its painful how most of them are payed 50+k a week and still can barely pass a ball to their own players.

i say it to my mates at work, and ill say it here, its obvious the boss doesnt pick the team.

i said it from the moment sven took charge, in order for FA to get money it makes sense to play the most common stars in an england shirt, and again it seems apparant against israel (lampard/gerrad both playing completly more wank than me virgin mate on a weekend)

the side will never change unless of an injury, then we might play football, but untill then keep watching lazy/over paid/big headed shits to wear the three lions on a shirt.

On the finance subject I would have rather kept the way it was with regards to cup finals being at Millenium Stadium(a truely neutral stadium that wasnt in London) and the Internation matches around the country, meaning it was easy for everyone to go,, not just the Londoners. Now with the new stadium, every international match, cup final and probably the semi finals have to be played at Wembley until 2036.

We didnt need a stadium, the one Wales has was working fine for us. Just means that less people can see England matches in future

If they continue to play people like Rio (!) they deserve to lose, because the team hasnt been picked to win, its been picked with as many stars as possible, and its so painfully shocking that the manager and the FA dont see that it doesnt work.

There are plenty of good players in the Premiership that dont even get a look in (Barry and Nolan!) and too many players who make the squad based on reputation.

Our team (Scotland) has it share of "stars" (Well, Fletcher and McFadden :p) but they are never safe from the threat of substitution if they arent playing well (in particular, McFadden usually has a strop if he is subbed), and the squad is constantly changing. True its partly because we dont have players of the calibre of England, but the vast majority of them are picked on current ability, rather than past ability. England really needs to use this same formula. Its only a matter of time until Becks comes back :(

England miss Beckham. End of. Lennon isnt good enough yet. Ok, he can beat a man, but the end product is shocking. I lost count of the nothing balls he put into the box. If it was Beckham that received the pass Phil Neville got in wide open space i would put everything I own on Beckham picking out AJ and the ball being in the back of the net. We arent a danger at set pieces anymore. Lampard was found wanting yet again at international level, but I cannot think of anyone who could replace him. Rooney was dog shit too.

Saying that, england could of and should of won.

Well, they may have got rid of sven, but not his tactics, nothing at all has changed McClaren pretty much ran the england team back then anyway. The England players are some of the best in the world position by position they just cant work as a team.

Personally I would drop the lot of them from the squad and use championship players, at least they would have passion and a hunger to win.
