Arsenal need to start shooting from 20-30 yards instead of trying to walk it in every single time.

Yes it looks fancy when they score and it is attractive football but fuck me how many times has it cost them :p

The goal from Alex was immense though, though i suspect he had a ladder like in the Wickes advert ;):D

They can't be pleased, have played some stunning football this season and yet the best they can now hope for is 3rd in the league. They really need to make it a priority to get a top class striker, they rely too much on Henry and the other forwards they have just aren't doing the buisness when it matters most.

Exactly. Well if my predictions of a Barcelona implosion are correct then Eto'o could be heading to London.

And bring back the Ice man too! :D

I reckon The Gunners will have an amazing team within a feam years.. If they don't sell out ofc

Didn't see tonights game as I'd rather see Bayern-Real(bye bye), but I guess PSV did very well to get a draw at Emirates. Looking forward to the highlights

Playing for 3rd is not bad :(

We have positives but with Henry being out of form we are not scoring enough goals Manu and Van Persie both look like they can be good but untill we have either a second striker or a midfielder geting 20+ a season i don't think we will challenge.

I pray Manu and Van Persie prove me wrong and we winish a comfortable 3rd ready for a fresh start next year.

I was talking to a mate about this while the game was on. Arsenal may very well have a potentially awesome team for the coming years, but whats to say that some of their players don't plateau soon?. I know it's not massively likely given the previous blossomings of other players.

But at the end of the day, teams like Man Utd, Chelsea and perhaps Liverpool if they get more spending power with their new owners, will continue to buy high profile players as opposed to buying them on the cheap and raising them as Arsenal do.

I'm not slating Arsenals style, merely an observation that if they wish to really compete against the other 3 big title contenders then they need to start looking at buying already established players.

A bigger concern should be the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona coming in and poaching Fabregas, I doubt Arsenal can resist a £25+ million bid and we all know that these spanish players go weak at the knees when Real/Barca come knocking.

You can't buy a team you cany only buy individuals Wenger is trying to build a team just like Furgusson did with the Beckham Giggs lot.

I do not think we can do it with what we have at the mo we lack a killer in our team but if you think arsenal have a nearly a whole team that can play 8 years together
Clichy - Johan - Toure - Hoyte\Eboue
Walcot - Cesc - Denilson
Van Persie - Manu

If you belive the press we already told Madrid to FO with a 27mil bid the 8 year contact with no buy out claus it will be hard to poach him imo. But i think Cesc hate Madrid being a Barce boy so that might have been him that said no chance :)

I'd like to see them all stay at Arsenal and form the same friendships/awareness for one another in the same way Giggs/Nevilles/Beckham/Scholes all did.

If you could seal one of the younger highly rated stars like Torres then it'd be a big step forward no doubt. What i don't like though is when Arsenal do develop their players so well but as Cho said they go weak at the knees when a European superclub come sniffing around.

And if Barcelona came in with a £30 million offer do you not think Fabregas would seriously want to go? The Spanish are wired differently than us, to them La Liga is the centre of the universe and the chance to play for one of the big two is life changing stuff for them. The sad fact is that players from that part of the world always want to end up at either of those clubs, even Christano Ronaldo eventually wants to end up there and I don't see Fabregas being any different sadly.

Until Arsenal stop trying to walk the ball into the net they won't win anything!

Utd were shite again tonight, things need to improve fast, else we are going to be on the end of a pasting soon from somebody!

you wont score if you dont shoot... thats what arsenal are missing... someone who will get ball and smack it at goal...

its all well and good passing the ball and looking good, but its goals that matter.

they need someone who doesnt give a shit about passing the ball.. just hits it when given it (and coz its arsenal, usually in a good position)... someone like lua lua maybes? hmmm

Have to agree but that is why we got Baptista in. For all the domination in Midfield we simply don't create enough decent shots on goal. PSV scored on their only corner of the half. The best team did not win but Arsenal have to do better than the performance last night.

Fabregas missed two fairly easy chances in the second half and for all his great work in midfield he seems to loose it in the box.

Could not believe how high Alex was compared to everyone else, Air Jordan boots!

You are correct Cesc has said he wants to end his playing days back home so it will only be a matter of time, but he also said in the interview he will not ask if he can transfer while he is under contract because if it was not for Wenger he would not be a footballer. Barce told him he was not good enough for a pro contract remember. So im gonna have faith in him that will will get him till his late 20s

I think the worrying thing about Arsenals young players is that very few of them are English or even from the UK. Being from Spain or France, for example, they will all have their favourite team over there, and if they come bidding it will just unsettle them. To us in the UK, it seems weird that anyone would want to move from, say Arsenal, to Madrid, since it does seem that ambitions are more likely to be fulfilled in England. But playing for the team you grew up supporting is hard to resist.

Its already happened with Hargreaves and Man Utd. He is at the biggest club in Germany, and probably set up for life, but the moment there is interest from England, he wants to come over.

Not sure they will make professional decisions based on what teams they liked. Right now the Premiership is the most watched League in the world. The list of countries showing live games is staggering. The players come for the money and the prestige of playing for top clubs in a league that will get them noticed.

I know its a worldwide market, but for many foriegn players, it isnt the top league to play in. I mean, take Becks, England's most recognisable player, and he left to play of Madrid. Yes one of the reasons was a change of scenery, but he was getting paid far more at Madrid than he would ever get paid in England.

I know the Premiership is powerful and influential, but there are still bigger leagues and clubs outside. If you are Spanish and you are playing at Arsenal, and you win the league, but then Barcelona come in with an offer of an equal size deal as that you get at Arsenal, would you stay?

My concern isnt that the Premiership isnt attractive enough, but that with so many players from abroad, they risk losing them to the big clubs from their own countries.

I cant understand Arsenal I really cant. On paper they have such a talented team yet always underachieve. Its all very well saying "in a few years we will have the best team in the premiership". How do you know this will be the case? Whos to say these youngsters dont fulfil their potential? Arsenal need that bulldog spirit Liverpool and Man Utd have and to a certain degree Chelsea have. They also need a player who can grab the game by the scruff of the neck a la, Gerrard, Lampard and scholes. Its all very well cesc making 2000 passes a game, but he needs to step up now, and become a midfield general. For his size, he punches far above his weight. So shouldnt be scared of some rough and tumble.

They should get Niclas Bendtner back from Birmingham, he'll pop in a good 20 goals/season given the chance :)

I will infor Arsenal fans to stop hoping for the best in the future and stop talking about the potential of our players and instead we will now just say we hope Bill Gate buys us so we can just buy our way back to the top.

Is that better? Arsenal fans know our squad is not perfect but Wengers way of buying youngsters to try make a squad is our best chance of succes
