Milan were tough, organised and brutal. But such is football and Man U just couldn't take the heat.

Though, the Milan players have a really negative attitude to football, I don't think sportsmanship is encouraged too much in Italy.

PS. I think Fergie would really hate to admit it but on a night like this Man U would have needed Keane. :)

I don't follow you really, thought it was a great and clean fight, sure Gatusso was screaming shouting and kicking, but it's a very important fight and i would expect both teams to be rather emotional about it.

AC Milan simply played better tonight and their victory is well deserved.

Looking forward for a Liverpool vs Milan final, i've been a ACM fan for many years, but Liverpool surely got my respect and i'm looking forward to see them play!

Uhm, might be true in general, but Manu and Scholes failed to play the ball back to Milan when they passed it out due to player being injured. Sure they were frustrated, but bad sportmanship nevertheless.

He was not injured.. he claimed cramp...go through all the league games this season and find how many times he has had cramp in the 80th minute.. bet you wont find one. It was pure time wasting at its best. They do that alot in italy and someone could easily got sent of for grabbing scholes around the throat.

edit: wrote that fast.. but as above Milan deserved to win on the night, just they wasted alot of time as most teams end up doing when they hold an advantage. But they began to take the piss... and 3minutes time added on? I said after 73 minutes that I bet they say 3 minutes however it needed a minimum of 6minutes from all the "treatment" time etc.

I'm not saying i'm happy. I'm glad it's not an all english final but i'm not glad that Chelsea aren't in it.

But Mourinho won't go at the end of the season. Two weeks ago he had backing from the board that his contract won't be terminated, and he won't be leaving of his own accord.

Chelsea pretty much duff up the premiership and go out harshly from the CL, it's hardly grounds on sacking a great manager given the season we've had.

So because thats the first cramp he get all season in the 80'th minute he's faking it?

imo it was a clean and good fight! few freekicks, few bookings and the players respected each other ( apologising for bad tackles etc) you might blame the ref for not counting 3 full minutes overtime, but claiming that ACM lacks sportsmanship is way off!

No it is not way off. Believe me when I say I know how football works. Cramp normally comes down to fitness, why do you think it normally only happens to a player when they pushing on for longer then normal (ie 2nd half of extra time).

If he truelly had cramp he wouldnt be off the pitch and instantly ready to come back on without a single limp. Look at Liverpool, when their player had cramp it took 5minutes of limping before he was even semi running free. Kaka came back on and was instantly fine. That was not a cramp that would leave you on the ground 2 minutes.

As i said, if he could get cramp in just 80minutes of that game it would shown up previously in the season, are you seriously telling me you think they would have wasted 2-5minutes if they were losing in the 80th minute?

And yes was a pretty clean match, should have been more booking on both sides really but cant blame the ref for not pulling out the cards, makes a nice change, but was some real cynical fouls in there (hi Gattuso playing ronaldo if he slips past you 20-25yards out) that would normally be a booking and force the player to control theirself more.

Regardless of acusations of time wasting/bad sportsmanship etc united never started the game milan coasted through the game and united gifted them oportunity after oportunity at CL level you cant do that, even if the game had 60 mins time added on I doubt united would have scored.

Was hoping for the all english final but the rematch should be a great contest :)

Sucks we lost, but think Liverpool will win it.

Liverpool in my eyes play a fucking strange way, a bit like Bayern in the 1999 days. They are very hard to beat, and have some good players who can score goals from different places. This is what causes international teams problems as they expect fancy flair etc.

How many times in the past have we seen "manager gets backing from the board" for the headlines in the paper a few weeks down the line to be "this manager is sacked or left" ?

Fair enough, but how often are a manager of his caliber sacked, based on one poor season vs 2 very successful previous seasons?

Seems incredibly rash to me.

Gattuso showed what a holding midfielder is all about. Carrick in that role isnt fit to lace his boots. Every single 50/50 ball, Gattuso fought for like his life depended on it. United need Hargreaves, no question. For me though, uniteds best player was Fletcher!!

aye, fletcher was only player on Man U side that was chasing and tackling.

Well played to Milan ( :( ) Gattuso and Seedorf were awesome...

Who's bullshit though?

It's been the toughest season since he took over, having lost our best keeper and missing one CB a number of times.

Challenging for 4 trophies with a squad that frankly hasn't been able to handle (i'm not saying we should or shouldnt be able to, just an observation) playing week in week out.

The two previous years warrant honouring his contract without question imo.

tbh, The top 4 should play their reserves in the league cup. Its a nothing cup and no point in it. No other league in the world has a noob cup like england does.

It's all tactics. I would have thought you would have spotted it, guess not :)

It's the way Italians are taught to play, nothing you can really do.
