When I did it I was at the top of the pit, and the bow dropped on the first Argo I killed...so don't assume the mob is always at the bottom.

have done this a few times and u cant take for granted the mob runs away or that the one running have the bow ... best tactic imo is simply mass killing them with a chanter or a few mages ( done it 3 times that way )

just start from the top and work your way down

be aware that u dont get a message when it drops and u first get encounter when u pick it up

good luck

Did this with an Anim and 3 rangers just chain pull. There is no set pattern to Drop time or Mob is purely random.

Ours was in a pull of 3 arogs

Patience is your friend im afraid

Did it duo with another scout, he killed the mob with the bow, but apparently he was just sitting there watching for one moving diff from the rest.

Another methord I've seen, is just having a couple of pbae'ers go into the middle and mass kill them.

Did it with anim + fopbot. First we looked for the "special" mobs but nothing came of it. Then we just pulled and killed the lot starting from the top of the pit. Somewhere halfway down fools dropped.

Did this with 2 rangers and a warden, we chased every mob that ran away and got nothing, in the end the right one aggro'd our warden.

It seems VoS is wrong on this one, they do run away, but that does not mean it's the right mob.

Well ive done this 3-4 times, each time ive used the VOS method and its worked fine, I suggest you keep trying with that.

Swim around the argos stealthed, the one you want will move directly away from you at top speed. Ive never known the one with bow to not run, and ive never killed it by randomly hacking away at argos (in fact its very hard to do it that way when you consider the one you want kites, pulling normaly almost guarantees its the wrong one unless you got a serious shroom farm or something going). There are a lot of argos down there, it does take some time to find, but dont give up on the VOS method for once...

There are two type of kiting seen in the argos.

1). Argos with bow will flee before combat, and keep out of DD range. Any that do this DO have the bow, 100% certain.

2). Other Argos will kite away when they have lost life (and come back 15 second later), these do not carry the bow.

First time I did it Argo with bow swam outta pit and we chased him down.

Second time the Argo with the bow was actually an add that came when the one I pulled called for help.

We chased these melee runners down and killed them with no drop, the first 10 or so we tried all ran away at range so we stealthed and jumped on them. Perhaps we made an error, but these Argos were much different to those that ran when near death and none dropped the bow.

I have only done this once so my experience is limited, but we killed the right ones according to VoS and nothing dropped (yes, the harpies were up), the one that dropped the bow aggro'd our warden, we didnt even know he was in combat until she started yelling that she had the bow :)

Total mobs we killed was about 20, so either way it would seem to be wise to chase the runners.
