Focusing Ibn (8.3 enc)

Anyone able to give some advice on how to do this with 'chanter (w. ML9 pet)? Need a drop from it but still pretty new to the whole focus thing and never seen this encounter done this way (though I believe it's meant to be pretty straightforward).

Any advice gratefully received.

This can be done with focus ? not quite sure how u would do that - as soon as u pick chest up you would be insta dead needs to be a tank to run with chest - Also you need to approach statues for em to activate again dead very quick.

In saying this though never played anything other than Mid so no idea how your pet class works but if it is anything like SM you dont have a chance of doing it using focus. I'm presuming u mean solo here ofc ?

OOps was totally thinking about wrong enc

Would have just thought for ibn get keys open chests will sword is up send pet in focus iirc -- I sent ml9 pet in with focus shield and he didnt split as far as i can recall was a while ago-- I can test it though if u want.

Thanks for the offer, would be nice if you could test and tell me exactly what you did. Was a Summ SM told me he did it long time ago but not how.

Yes it can be done i've tested and succeded -- easiest way i found.

Requires ML9pet
1 bot or a friend prferably shammie but healer does at a push - (No fop required)

approach ungrpd -- in bg if both want credit -If just farming not important to be bg obviously.

/sm have pet up get key open chest chances are wont be right sword -- ding ml9 up fight swords till all swords are attacking move sm as close to hill as poss -- then die.

Rez with sham/healer

wait rs to go and ml9 rdy again

Fully buff pet and sm

move into area (swords should no longer be aggro if they are move away wait a little while reapproach.

speak ibin again - and just keep getting keys till sword pops -- immediately ding ml9 send into attack ibin.

Get focus up asap and use smallest heals possible on pet.

shamm/healer will occasionaly get aggro (dont worry its just one cast from ibin)

just keep focus up and heal -- hey presto IBIN dead i got nice drops each time


POINT TO NOTE use spirit fighter only -- Other pets weapons procs and causes ibin to split and as you know thats bad .

Agree with everything here, except fighting the swords and die.

Instead of fighting the swords: Talk to Ibn, get a key, open chest. If it is a animated sword talk to Ibin again to get a new key, and run away. The Animated sword despawn when you get out of range from the encounter. Look at your BB's screen, you will be able to see when the animated sword despawns, and head back for a new try. Redo until the right sword comes - ml9 and focus Ibn.

Have done this alot, and it helps to have a bb + example AugHealer or a Valk to HoT.

Be very careful with overhealing as he will chase the seers almost across the zone

I've done this on hib with my chanter and also on mid with a summon sm - basically the same way.....

Leave bot(s) half way between the hill and the 5 chests so they are in healing range for when you run away from teh chests. On hib i had my fop druid and also mentalist for HoT but am sure with careful healing the mentalist wasn't needed though.

As you face the chests with your bots behind you run in from the left - talk to Ibn to get a chest to open - if its not the right chest just run away immediately to the bots and heal up from the swords damage.

When you open the right chest immediately set ml9 on pet and atack Ibn then pull back yourself AND pet (passive mode) until you and the pet are within heal range of druid/shaman/menta/etc - turn focus shield on and attack him again and when pet is down to 50% health start to heal with the very smallest heal and by this time you can virtually spam the heals as the pet will keep agro.

Done it about 15 times on hib and similar on mid and only had 2 splits and if that happens just leave him alone until he reforms then set pet on him again.
