OK, for months and months ive been getting this rare occurence while im just sitting in the living room.

The lights are on and everything, but the TV and stuff are off (Or sometimes on Mute). Im downnstairs on my own when out of the blue some weird things happen...

Im just staring into nowhere when all of a sudden i can see little white "sparks" which just start going all over the place to wherever im "looking". Each "spark" lasts no more than a second, and happens for about 15-20seconds before the "sparks" stop showing.

Now, obviously with the sparks lasting no more than a second i cant focus on any of them, so i dont try to, i just tend to enjoy whatevers happening :p.

I dont really know how to explain it better than that.. and i have no idea what could be causing it.

I know what you mean Gray, I see this too if you stare into one spot but you can't look directly at them.

My only guess is that it's the cones on the retina being stimulated and if you concentrate long enough you see things. A similar more vivid effect can be had if you close your eye and press on the eyeball through the lid, compressing the eye ball. You see all sorts of weird and wicked patterns and sparky lights.

Are you a student or something Gray with nothing else better to worry about? ;)

Serious suggestion, perhaps some sort of tumour? I'm not a medical student or anything but i remember from Phenonima, i think it was called, that the guy saw a bright flash of light. Later explained by a brain tumour, disregarding the rest of the stuff btw. I'd go get it checked out anyway.

And i know what BigG means about the closing the eyelids and pushing bit :p Used to spend ages as a child doing it, travelling through tunnels and the wotnots that appeared.

I've experienced it too, and when I mentioned it to my doc he got quite worried, it can be caused by a number of things, many of which are symptomatic of pretty serious stuff. Go talk to your GP.

I sometimes get them around the edges of my vision if I've been running up and down the stairs, and then sit down to watch TV immediately after. Its blood pressure in that instance, but go see your doctor anyway.

Those are most easily visible (for me) when looking up at the sky. I'd still see a doctor, because what you're describing doesn't sound like quite the same thing.....

You mean "stars in your eyes"?
Or "Seeing stars"?
Feeling faint?
I've had this before whilst squeezing off a particularly awkward yule tide log!
It's blood rushing through my head.
If you're getting this whilst sitting still, then you probably want to get that checked. Probably blood pressure, or maybe caused by a virus or summit.
:(

However, your seemingly innocent description of your settings, I'm afraid, sound rather suspicious - if you ask me (you didn't? I don't care!).
The lights are on?
You're just "sitting" in the living room?
Staring into nowhere?
The TV is off? (!!??)
SOMETIMES ON MUTE!!!!!! (PORN ALERT!!!! PORN ALERT!!!!*WahWah*WahWah*WaWah*)
:D

Sparks flying were they?

Have you ever had a migraine. I started getting this happening about 2 years ago and a quick trip to the doc just confirmed that it was a small migrain. I somtimes get bigger ones now where I get a blurred circle in the middle of my vision followed by a corona of light. Absoulty great light show.

Apparently Migraines can just start in your mid 20s.

when in doubt, talk to your GP matey. If you aren't happy with him/her for this, ask an eye specialist.

Indeed, get yourself to a doctor. You'll probably be referred to an eye specialist if it's a problem with just your eyes (does it happen in both btw?). You'll kick yourself if you lose any vision through not getting it sorted.

I sometimes see strange shapes, but I always put it down to my low blood pressure. Meh.

I had a thing for a while where whilst I was driving I would glance down at the speedo or fuel guage, and when I looked up again there would seem to be a flash, like far off lightning.

Doesn't happen any more, and I'm not dead or anything, so can't have been serious, I suppose.
