Flame to many of the Hibs out there..

Well getting quite anoyed now, hearing and seeing ppl beeing semi afk or whatever their doing...

Many times ppl say afk bla bla, sure dont blaim em to go afk but if you want to rvr you need to be 110% acktive, its not like pve where you can go afk for toilet etc everything can happend...

And seeing ppl unstick and react maybe 5 secs after action has begun is abit boring, recalling 5 mins ago odins, lead a grp to some resting mids, just stopping and getting rdy i stil see maybe 4 of my fgbeeing stuck to me even the bard...and then see bard get mezz of 5 secs later and only get 1 mid...this was NOT cuz of anykind of lag.

I mean if your rvr you SHOULD not read magazines, read forums, chat with friends IRL or other things that might distract you, your job is to be prepared for anything....and only concentrate on your role etc. Sure just normal movements between DL -> bolg etc might be something difo but to do something else while roaming or whatever isnt really good...

Im so excited that I cant spell or set up the flame the right way but just what I like to say to all you out there, _wake_ _up_....

people always have to go afk when playing daoc, you gotta live with it. it's not like you play quake for 3 hours non stop without moving ur eyes from screen? no, you have 20mins games and at least 2min break in between.

This is one of the reasons you find me running around solo alot, because I can't always commit 100% of my time. Yet people still beg me to join their groups because they have no bard...shit happens mate...

I don't mind people going afk, heck RL should come first, what I hate is people who are at the game, playing the game but not paying attention cause there busy gossiping in sends or /gu, chatting away.

Which basically means soon as anything happens, there mid sentance, try to go into combat mode, can't, fumble there message, to late, dead.

Well ofc you can have an RL life and Yes its not a game like Q3 but it does stil require you to be alert atleast when your running around looking for fights...

Ive done those afk etc misstakes myself, im not perfect but will try to become and make the rest of you...

If all the peepz in the grp would be 100% alert and done with their RL life for some hours, It would surley meen a 100% better chance of survival and victory... Ive seen it.

Im not saying you cant have a RL life, just be gone with it before you begin...

Maybe im crazy and got no RL life, but just my toughts...

Well, Stallion has a point there, nowadays most active rvr players make their own groups, so the old-style random groups are usually filled with new-comers etc Lack of experience and patience, sum1 will leave in 1-2runs and this will pull the chain (whole grp disbands)

Getting the patience to form a random group (can take up to 2hours :& ) and calm down the ppl when sum1 leaves cos u have 1 replacement coming (at the time u start looking for one) plus explaining others what should they do in rvr... is a fucking hard task.

I agree, going afk or not watching your party in rvr is poor play. Makes me flinch when a party enters emain and someone says 'afk', I look at their class and think 'omg, get attacked in the next 5 mins and we have no ... mezz/healing/nuking/tanking etc'.

i am always running around the house while playing daoc

i play standing behind my computer and have alot of distraction around me but i try to time it when to go afk or eyes of screen... anyway once arrived in the frontier i am ready for battle

I'm used to groups going to a "safe" spot every 30 mins or so to enable ppl to relog, grab snacks/drinks and pee. Takes only a min or so, and IF you get wiped, you dont get an arguement about it

I agree with Stallion there. When in RvR (emain, odins, wherever...) Get you're 2 small eye balls on the screen and pay attention. It's dam frustrating for you're group if an important class in you're group dont' do something he is expected to do becouse he is eating..watching TV etc...in my RvR group I want peeps to play 100%. And then TELL if you need pee, or eat a while before so we can get a replacement or take a short brake or sumthing like that. But those are mostly n00bs who just got 50 and prolly not reading this forum at all

door bell rings
daughter falls down the stairs
kitchen is burning down
gota take a dump
dog needs to be let out the back

i agree people shouldn't be afk so much but i find these are the most common reasons why it happens, they are mostly unpredictable curcumstances, your cant ignore these things coz you got 5fg's of mids zerging towards you, and if you do maybe its time you moved your eyes to the left or right of your monitor to notice there is a Real world around you.

phone rings: 1 of your friends has been shot. but you dont know that coz you couldn't be bothered to answer the phone coz the zerg was more important.
door bell rings: its the pizza man, now your gana be hungry coz of the zerg
daughter falls down the stairs: thats ok the dog can lick her broken leg better, just till the zerg is over!
kitchen is burning down: its ok as long as the fire doesn't reach the computer in the next 5mins we could win this zerg!
gota take a dump: ummm something sloshy in my superman brief's! 'umm maybe i should switch over to pampers!'
dog needs to be let out the back: whats that smell! o nvm must be that troll running towards me.

Think a dozy player gawping at guild chat is slightly less forgiveable than someone who has to go afk to answer the phone/door etc with no warning.

I have a 3 year old daughter, they don't wait till your ready, at any point she may demand my attention, most the time during my playing hours it involves no more than taking my eyes off the screen to give her the attention she needs (I don't like to be one of those parents who ignores their kids for 5 mins before checking to see what it is they want) for a few seconds.

Sometimes there IS trouble, she's a bit of a tomboy and hurts herself, personally I respond to crying child by dashing out my chair, zerg? sorry but good luck
Not common occurences but I don't make excuses for myself and I know better than to sulk if someone else happens to say "sorry, I had to afk sudenly", shit does happen, die, release and go back.

I've seen too many people being given a hard time for doing what they had to, rather than playing a game and I don't think DAOC is so important we can afford to lose our understanding or tolerance of those strange and fickle lives that others lead as well.

But i think what they mean is when people like me level their 8'th enchanter on another comp while im stuck to a lagging leader and say five minutes later when group died a equal fight in emain that i am still running down a tree in connacth =)

I was luuuved in fins groups =) but who cares, i got my mates enchanter leveled 23 while i was pressing the darn pbaoe button 900 times a row in the darn 900 hours a row fins groups .P

aye, i know exactly what the point was only point i was making was no point in flaming about it, just get up boot the person out of the group and do it again! either that or join 1 of these "ubber lvl50" perfect guilds where you dont get ppl who go afk earlier post didn't miss the point i see the point my point is simply, a post wont solve the problem way i handle it is.. take a note of the peeps that do this on more then 1 accasion then try not to group with them! i guess i just didn't get around to sayin that
but yeah stupid things like spending 2 much time playing around in different chat groups /as /g /gu cg is just silly those mistakes dont need to be made and i have been known to full into doing that myself must learn to not have an opinion in these chat groups though

It's how its done - If u constantly go afk in situations you would be needed, go afk when theres no real reason - ie to refill yer drink etc, go afk without telling a group, etc etc etc then thats the wrong way to do it.

If you need to go AFK or RELOG, all you have to do is tell the grp that at the next possible SAFE time, you will need to go afk (toilet) , or relog.

Aside from this, yes if you are doing RVR you need to try to stay focused on what you are doing ie the game, and try not to go afk randomly and without warning etc.

The main problem (and not just with hib cos I would imagine all the realms are the same), is that an increasing number of players are playing this game semi-afk, going from grp to grp, mainly for xp, just to get a few levels without too much effort :/

It's simple, if someone is repeatedly being AFK then you simply boot them, and refuse to grp with them in future.

Well most of you are talking about ppls Real life obligations, not saying to ignore them or anything like that, many of you have seemed to missunderstood point...

im refering to the ppl just going stick mode and doing something else while waiting for action to come...

Now im talking about doing something else on the comp or etc...and just turning back to daoc or whatever when they hear the verry fight above them...and at this moment the 5 secs to late...

funny part is that we supprised the fg mids I was talking about , took em about 4-5 secs to spot us, but stil every1 was stuck hence they where stil semi gone doing something else... this isnt the first time...

just wanted to point out some of the problems im experiencing...

now after all this I try to make grps of ppl I know and telling them to be done with their important stuff before we head out....
