Don't starve yourself.

Exercise. By that I mean go out and have a long walk, maybe a bit of running. Join a gym.

Winning.

91/156 measured in what exactly? which way around have you got it? Systolic Pressure / Diastollic? My dad at age 58 has a blood pressure of 120/70 which is optimal . Anything above that or below is generally considered high and low.

And what kind of diet is that? With out reading all of it (cos I cba) it seems like a high fructose carb diet and low fat/pro when it should be vice versa? Who gave you the diet? A PT that advises mc donalds also?

You should be on a low carb high fat/pro diet with greens/ doing AM cardio (50minute to 1hour power walk on a incline (8% is ok) treadmill.

its 156/91 I just got it the wrong way round... I cant answer the diet plan yet as I dont have 1... The above is what I choose to eat, nothing else. The personal trainer is planning something for me this Thursday, that means... food plan (more of suggestions what to eat and when) and a strict fitness plan for me too and goals to meet each week. He will be measuring me once a week to see how I'm getting on... As soon as I find out Thursday/Friday of this week I will post as much information as I can on here if anyone interested.

@Keitanz :)

I was told by the PT to have a list of everything I done... eaten/exercise etc so just putting that down as to what I done, thats all :)

Oh ok, I thought that was the PT's diet plan, that's why I found it crazy.

How old are you? that reading is a disgrace and if this doesn't make you get motivated what will? That's higher than my 82 year old gran who can barely walk (true story, I use to test her blood pressure) . You are heading for heart disease or a heart attack ....

Rule of thumb that has always worked for me and people I know when cutting weight, if you eating and exercising right (nothing extreme, just a average diet and exercise) . You should be losing a minimum of 2LBS a week, ignore the first 14 days of loss age, it will be water / body shock. If you ain't losing 2lbs a week then you need to keep eating less till you are or exercise more.

Big key is to weigh constantly, i.e. for me, every Monday morning after I've woken up and taken a piss. And the previous day / evening eatings will be constant with the previous Sunday.

If you are boozing more than once a month or so, can forget any serious weight loss as well.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but you first priority is to have your Personal Trainer get you in touch with a nutritionist asap if you want to succeed – you need a lesson on how your body works as it's clear you have no idea how to eat properly. Your current diet is dangerous and detrimental to your health.

I've just read in your latest post that he'll be giving you a food plan on Thursday - until then I would highly advise you eat a more balanced diet. You need to incoprorate more protein and some carbs (minimal amount), for example - weetabix + milk for breakfast, home made sandwhich for lunch (brown bread with a salad + chicken/turkey - no sauces) and for an evening meal a lean protein + vegetables. If you are hungry between meals then have a piece of fruit - don't substitue a meal for just fruit. If you want to lose weight you want to be eating between 1500 - 2000 calories per day and adding exercise to that burn calories / build muscle. Any less than 1500 calories and your body won't burn calories effectively and it'll go into starvation mode (where it burns lean muscle instead).

Your diet is awful, if your personal trainer if any good, will change that back sharpish. If your PT thinks your diet is ok, get a refund before you do yourself harm.

Eat realtively normally, do more strenuous exercise. Walking will do fuck all for you unless it's quite intense (hills, mountains etc.)

Wazz: true to an extent. walking is actually not to be looked down upon, but it needs to be around 40-45 minutes and at a brisk tempo. best way of burning fat directly. something that REALLY worked for me was to get up early, eat something very small, like a fruit, and do powerwalking before breakfast. Uber for burning

Yup, my old man lost a load of weight when he started doing a fast walk to sainsburys and back every day. (4 mile round trip or so)

Most people fail at weight loss/getting fit because they take too short term an approach, don't strive for perfection as you will just fall flat on your face and this will leave you feelign bad about yourself when you have pretty much set an impossible goal in an unreachable timeframe.

Set a target for the near futire sure as you need to get the ball moving but something that will also long term be sustainable for life

Edit: Core training is a good place to start as it leaves you feeling better and less sluggish but don't overdo it or your body will punish you and let you know in no uncertain terms to slow it down

I find eating healthy (no junk food, snacks, etc) plus exercise is a nice way to shed extra weight. I tend to lean towards 20-30 mins of explosive exercise at full tilt, rather than taking it slowly. Can usually feel an improvement after a week, 2-3 weeks down the road I need to get new belt holes made.

Eat 10-15% less/day and do 15-30 mins exercise a day and you'll lose weight without any stupid bollocks.

First of all. Well done for getting yourself sorted out and having the balls to admit the problem on here.

All the dietary advice you read here is sound, I'd be a bit concerned with what you are currently eating and would expect any PT to sort that out for you straight away.

Regarding your Blood Pressure. You're currently sitting in what is known as High: Stage 1 Hypertension. You should expect to see this drop with any weight loss, however, if it was your PT who took this I would certainly book an appointment with your GP just to get it on your medical records. You can then track it in accordance with any significant weight loss in the proper way and in the event that it doesn't drop your GP may want to investigate further. Without trying to use any 'fear tactics' all I would say is don't assume it's related to your weight (although it is more than likely)

Good luck with the program and keep us posted, I have a mate who has found posting the results of his personal weight loss on Facebook to be a great motivator.

And if running doesn't burn off the fat, the amount of your arse the dog chews off will.

I'm just trying to picture the ER scene

"I have a patient - mid 20s, male with what appears to be part of a pork chop inserted in his rectum and numerous dog bites on his buttocks and legs..."

I used to eat two wheetabix + semi skimmed milk with Rasins (or other dried fruit) for Breakfest around 7-8am

Piece of fruit as a snack around 11am.

12-1pm Dinner was two cracker breads w/o spread a piece of lean cured ham, cucumber and lettuce.

Piece of fruit around 3pm

Tea was around 5-6pm a chicken breast (w/o skin) oven baked with a herb mixture for flavour, roasted carrots and a small salad.

piece of fruit around 8-9pm.

I'd drink 2l of water a day.

Exercise wise an intense cardio (approx 10km run 15km cycle) and a mixed ground exercise (push ups/planks etc.) with free weights thrown in. Then i'd rock climb for 3 hours twice a week.

Lost 3 stone in 3 months.

A personal trainer "consulting" you that you need training? Who would've thought :p

Just saying that, do it yourself. If you don't have the willpower to lose weight solo, you won't have the willpower to keep it down solo.

Aye 2 weetabix, I usually throw a sliced banana in as well if i'm hungry. there's no need for more other than greed.

One of the most important things to keep in mind is portion size. You can be eating the healthiest and most nutritional food available, but if you're eating too much (ie too many calories) you'll never lose weight. The real trick is finding the "right amount"

If you clench both fists and put them side by side that's the size of your stomach. Keep that in mind when eating an evening meal (where you're more likely to over eat because you've had a "good day"). I see healthy eating similar to giving up smoking - you need to resist over eating and eating the incorrect foods; resist the craving. Once you get in the habit of looking at the calorie & carb content of your usual foods you'll be shocked at how unhealthy some small things are.

Do you make comments like that to start an argument? I'm not even going to bother responding to that ridiculous statement.

What's wrong with the statement? Paying for a personal trainer is a waste and doing it yourself will give you the tools and willpower to uphold it. Also more rewarding when you know there's no one holding your hand.

To use your own example; if someone hired another guy to help them quit smoking, you'd think they're a bit silly and should do it without.

Or are you one of these personal trainers, defending the moneymaking? :p

A personal trainer can be expensive but a good one is not a waste of money, they'll be able to focus your training in areas you need and give proper advice on technique. These are things you can't really do yourself unless you are educated in these areas.

I just think all this hyperfocus regime is a bit bullhockey. People haven't needed hightech trainers with 5 year degrees before, they sure as hell don't need one now. Or to put the orginal point in a nutshell; if you consult a personal trainer, their main goal is to make you believe you need one as it's what makes them money.

And that's about all i'm saying on it, since i'm not derailing this thread further.

All the best to the efforts and don't let it become a hinderence to your enjoyment of life.
