First fun online game experiences

apart from playing D&D on partyline via compunet in 1985, it has to be :


When the first demo map of Return to Castle Wolfenstein came out.

Allies land on the beach head and have to steal the plans. Was a relatively small map, with various possible entry points to the stronghold.

Was nothing quite like it when it came out, that one map held my attention for months, was on 56k too !

TFC in late in 1999 , just got my PC after playing halflife on my brothers comp (yes i bought a PC just for halflife ) , the map was rock2 and i got totally slaughtered but that was the most fun id ever had on a computer.

And the RTCW demo was very nice aswell , specially the flame thrower

Other notable ones are Battlefield 1942 demo , running people over in jeeps and jumping out of planes you were flying when the other people in the plane didnt know how to use the parachute

I played one a few months ago but I figured that it wasn't as much fun as being able to see what's happening instead of having it told in writing

Mine was soldier of fortune or SoF 2, cant remeber which, purely because it was the first online game I ever played. I was amazed that people from around the world could all play together. There was this dude just jumping round the map killing everyone, his score was like 85-2 and in my naivity, i was like "whoaaaaah, hes well good"
