I don't suppose many will get this if they don't have kids.

I have just dropped my son off at school for his first day, hes only there an hour. I have never felt such nerves in all my life, my stomach is still turning and I thought I was going to throw up as we walked into the school.

It only seems yesterday that he was born yet it seems a lifetime since we didn't have him, its only 4 years ago but I can't remember what it was like before him.

I am so proud, nervous and absolutely shitting myself, I pray to god he likes it there.

Its a nothing thread, more a blog thread but I just put it here, it must be because I'm emotional.

Good luck! I remember when my eldest started school a few years ago - its one of those times you come to realise that they have to make their own way in the world and that you just have to support em and hope!

Edit - My son starts on Monday so I'm in the same boat :)

My son Jake started today in year 4, (he is 8) i went with him to meet his new teacher, he looked really smart in his new clothes.

i know what you mean Trem mate, proud dads etc.
Although it makes me feel really old as i can remember my grandad taking me to school for the first day of a new year when i was a little nipper.

I still remember my first day at primary school, being walked by my mum, dressed in my duffel coat with those huge brown 'buttons'

Well hes back and he had an alright time but he never says much so its hard to gauge. Hes quite miserable when it comes to talking....like his dad.

Getting a migraine now from all the stress :(

I wish I could make him believe these are the days he will remember with fondness for the rest of his life but hes too young to understand.

It is harder for the parents than the kids!

He looks so smart in his uniform.

If you feel emotional today (quite right to) just wait until the school assembly's/ Nativity etc. Certain to reduce most parents to quivering wrecks with sheer pride.

My girl started 2 years ago and just ran with it and loved it. I was fine as she was older and really ready. But when the twins start next September, I will be a mess as they are my babies. I dread it, even now.

And time seems to go so much faster when they are at school. Cant believe Matilda starts Yr 2 on Thursday.

You (and more importantly, your boy) will be absolutely fine.
A day to be remembered x

njoy it when it lasts Trem matey,

hope you dont go through the SHIT we are going through atm with the school over our eldest daughter.

parenthood should come with a instruction manual. We may not read it but it should be big and heavy enough to BEAT THE SHIT out of other kids parents!

My lily had her first day at Nursery yesterday, she's a bit over 6 months old and her mum's back working 2 days a week now. I was a bit nervous for her, Clare was a wreck, but Lily seemed to have a fantastic day. I think the kids find the whole thing easier than we do, even at just 6 months!

I was exactly the same and Dan was the same age when he went nursery. The next hurdle is when they change rooms, I hated it when Dan went to a different room as he got older.

Lily is a great name by the way, very pretty.

Well did he say anymore? Did he enjoy his first day?

When I asked mine she said 'yeah it was fun, dont think ill go back tommorrow though. Maybe next week some time'

How do you explain to a 4 yr old that they have to go everyday for the next 12 yrs at least?

He didn't say nothing much to me but he rang my nan and told her all about his new friend Thomas. He also told a mum at nursery that he had a great day there although he was only there an hour.

He really doesn't talk to his mum and dad, hes so like me in that respect although my dad is dead so I do have an excuse for a bit of it.

He was kanckered and went sleep straight away though so that makes me feel good.

Melts your heart doesn't it?

He sort of has Draylor (I can read deleted posts :D ), there was a woodlice on his bed the other day and I said "wheres that come from mate" and he said "mummy trumped it out her bum" made me laugh anyways. Call Samm woodlice arse now.

Whereas they have the exact opposite effect on me. - I figured I'd balance the gooeyness of this thread out with the first "I hate kids" post.

Especially the chav couple's kids next door to my gf's house - dawn-to-midnight screaming at each other. Just like their parents :(

Dunno how you people do it. I'm nearly 35 and I've never even had a twang of "I want kids" enter my mind, despite my entire family asking me when I'm gonna have some every time I meet 'em - like I've got nothing else in my life unless I've spawned everywhere...

Awww how sweet!

My 2.5 year old was back to pre school today, but wasn't really any different for her since she's been going to holiday club all summer. She's the type of kid who just doesn't care if mummy is there or not and she ran in without even looking back. Definitely harder on the parents :(

My Mum works as a reception class teacher and she always says the first day of a new school year is always the hardest as the parents dont want to bugger off and nromally they're all teary eyed or jsut plain and simple crying! Whereas the children are quite happy to go off and talk to the other children there!

Why are there no Bird/Digger/Front Drive modifcations to the pic yet?
You guys are slacking!

Theres a kids school near where I live, on monday it must've been there first day as there were alot of worried looking parents standing outside as i walked to the train station.

A few weepy eyes and worried looks over the fence as the kids made there way inside, i'm sure alot of thoughts ran along the lines of "What about when they dont need me anymore?" :(

don't worry, for me the feeling is fleeting. I'm still at the abstract stage of kids heh.

I don't mind them though; it's mostly the parents that I wish horrible painful torture apon, especially when they stop a double pram at the top or bottom of an escalator because they simply must adjust some setting or get something out of the 70 fake olilly print bags that festoon the thing, pretending to be completely oblivious to the 8000 people behind them trying to make the train about to leave. Bitter? Me?
