Mozilla have got this new thing where you can create collections of add-ons.

Mine is here and I was wondering what you chaps may or may not use with firefox.

That's a cool idea, I'll check it out.

Not sure I understand the purpose of LeechBlock - why on earth would you want to block access to sites that prevent productivity? That's what the internet is for!

That's true I suppose, for me Leechblock is just a simple way to cut off sites that I don't need to be reading while at work or that deep down I know just waste my time. Facebook is a pretty good example as I only use the chat function and as that's now doable with a plugin in Pidgin, who needs the site anymore?

Ta, lots of nifty add-ons there I would never have seen otherwise, mostly the privacy and cookie blocking ones.

Adblock Plus and BugMeNot are the only ones I really use...

But that Download manager from MYstIC G's list looks good so I'll give that one a go - Cheers G.

I dont suppose there is a firefox add on for plaback of DVDs?

I took my work laptop camping only to find WMP has no codecs/playback function. As I dont have admin, I can't instal software - however, I was able to install firefox when a gormless tech guy left me with admin rights temporarily a while back - and firefox will happily update itself without any permissions from what I can tell. So if theres a plugin for DVDs that would be very cool.

Not that I'm aware of. The only thing I know of is a Windows Media Player plugin for firefox, which is for playing back files from the net.

Thanks....I'm not optimistic, IT at work are very anal about external software so it might be blocked, but I'll give it a try.

I've got the same problem, so if I want to run a media file at work I use portable apps, like VLC Player, straight off a USB stick.

I fucking hate corporate IT departments. Stopping people doing their jobs to "protect the network", thereby missing the fucking point entirely. I've just had a massive row with them because we're about to do an office move, which will involve moving on to the Head Office network. They wanted to give the Internet department limited access to the internet! An approved white list of sites (they actually block our own webmail product and any of our own sites that have social networking elements). Fucking idiots. Fortunately I've won the battle, but their whole attitude boils my piss.

It is, I just don't like having to use an external download manager personally. I did use it before DTA though.
