Actually the bit about stopping McAfee downloads should be true. Never has a more evil, shitty, dogshit piece of code been delivered by such a tight-arsed, grabbing, uncaring fucking slug-cock of a company.

The number of PCs I see at work with 80% CPU used up by scan32.exe is a joke but worse is if you try to get help from them about their scabby nobbing product. They won't speak to anyone who controls less than a 1 million budget personally.

I hope they all fucking rot in hell with Gary Glitter spunking his old-man's peado-juice into a hole in their skull I just gave them with an ice-pick.

Nah, it blows. Ad-aware once or twice a week for spyware scannage. If you need active spyware protection and have a kosher copy of windows, get Defender. That said, since you're an IT boff, you shouldn't need this stuff anyway . Only reason I installed AVG is because I have to scan a lot of clients hard drives plugged in to my machine and they're always infested, I'm far too cool to get viruses myself.

Good grief, Avast is lame :S. The amount of pc's I've seen with a fucked up installation of avast, or where it's bugging a client about something and they have no idea what to do. It's poo. AVG sits in the background and does what it needs to do - bugs you only when it absolutely needs to, and when it does gives you a detailed explanation of what's going on and what the recommended course of action is.

ive used AVG for a long time now without a problem. only time i had probs was when i worked for an ISP who advised people to use it but couldnt help when it went tits up. which was often, and i put that down to the gay software our CD installed for no apparent reason.

should check in the language you dl'd FF in.

on AV, I've installed AVG and up to now I have no gripes. It's low-priority background scanning is a nice feature, and all the emails I got this morning were scanned by it as well

You'll probably find the certification gets a bit annoying, it certifies both incoming and outgoing. It's pretty simple to disable though, just go to configure the e-mail scanner portion and you can untick certify mail.

hmm so it doesn't tack it's ickle "hi my name is $scanner and other than the smutty content this mail is fine with me" footer in there? that does seem nice to do away with. I imagine that it will piss me off in a long email conversation :/

Ok, how do I stop this BLOODY ANNOYING pop up every time I start Firefox saying if I want to resume a session?

When I want Firefox to load, I want it to load and go straight to home page and not arse me around, what the bloody hell were they thinking with this 'feature'?
