There is no second series alas. thats part of the problem.

Next step is to watch the movie Serenity, that answers everything the series did not.

they pulled it in favour of celebrity couch sitting with dale winton or some such shit.

saw a conspiracy theory that it was pulled because it promotes that it is better to be poor and free than have money and be part of the oppressive system.

amazing series and a fucking tragedy that it got pulled. they did say at one point that there maybe a second movie but not heard anything.

best way of supporting it/increasing the chance of a second series or movie is to go and buy the DVD box set, whether you have downloaded it from a torrent site or not.

Errr, I think you've missed out on alot Chronic..
No, the movie didnt come first, as it ties up all the lose ends from the series.
Your never shown how River was rescued in the show.

Bit of a shame they pulled the show, but I recon it adds to it's popularity that they didnt get a chance to fuck it up.. Like they do most decent shows these days.

If you watch the extended DvD version of the movie, you will get alot of background material on how and why the series was cancled.
And it was after I saw the movie + the documentary I had to see for my self what "Firefly" was about :)

I liked the movie alot so I got season 1 but havent had the time to watch em all yet.
But from what I've seen so far its a cool show.

Joss was actually signed up to make 3 Firefly movies in total, problem is it hard to see where exactly he will take the other two. I can only guess the next one will be to deal with the "Two by Two, Hands of blue" guys. (need to have seen series to know the reference)

Hehe, it must be one spooky series if 2 characters return from death to star in the series! Did anyone else feel sad when Walsh died?

Your definition of "everything" obviously differs from eveyone elses as i posed a question based on one fact, which subsecuently was right but in the wrong context which was
at the start of the movie did he or did he not grab her from the lab?
then when on the ship didnt they argue about her being on the ship as if it was the first time she was aboard?

so it was a flashback or something?

Basically Chronic, they showed them escaping from the lab so that the people who had not seen Firefly could grasp why the Alliance were after River. I enjoyed the movie but alot of it just did not run true to the show.

Mals attitude was hard to take for me, but I love the characters and every time I see the show on DvD or catch it every Thursday and Sunday on Sci-Fi :p I get the little pain in my stomach of something that has been lost. :(

Great show and Joss has said that he has so much more to tell about the crew and the verse. Fingers crossed go by the stuff, make them sit up and take notice.

i think the idea is that the TV series fits in somewhere in the middle.

Simon rescues river
Then there is the TV series
Then the rest of Serenity

Though i don't remember seeing Jayne's hat in the movie :/

The series and movie do not tie together like that the series was made first and is befor the film in terms or storyline because the movies answers why River is nuts.

But to the casual movie fan who never saw the series Joss had to explain that she was a weapon not a person hence the escape being included in the movie. So basically Movie later in time but had to have the escape so people who have not seen the series could get to grips with what was going on. Best way to think of it is the escape was a flash back :)

Do a search as to why Firefly was binned and it can piss you off basically Fox did not like the first episode so showed a different one first. Then they preempted it with something else the week after so it was on at a strange time. Then they continued to show them out of order and eventually showed the pilot about half way though the series. All this led to the yanks not really liking it as it made no sence in the order they watched it so Fox binned it.

It has only been since the dvd release when the series was shown as inteded have the americans grown to love it.

Mals attitude in the film is how he was originally invisioned. He was always meant to be a bit darker/shader character then he was in the series, Joss had to "Sweeten" him up because of Fox.

In general they were fucked about in US. The pilot episode (Train robbery iirc) was pushed back because it made the series to "dark" and Joss wasnt allowed to do what he prefered in slowly building the characters up across the series. They wanted the characters to be instant. Which is a real shame when you look at his great abilities with charactism :(

What i hate most, and was cursing about series being cancelled because you knew it would eventually be answered is that about Shepherd Book's past. Though it wouldnt have been told at once, through out the next series or two further clues would have came out about who he was. At a guess though he was something to do with the Council.

The pilot episode was Serenity a 2 parter, Train job was the episode shown first in the States because it was considered a better first episode by the fox execs, they didnt want him to take it slow they wanted action straight away.

Tbh though I prefered him in the series, he cared for his crew and it showed, in the movie he was to bad ass with them even though he did care for them. You didnt really get any of the ships crew being like a big family like you did in the series.

For example the episode where book gets medical help, at the end of the episode when they sit down for food and River passes on getting a bun from the basket but then takes Jaynes from his plate. Its the little things that made the show for me.

They do if they keep talking for long enough and keep the interest up, Firefly support can only grow tbh, once you have seen it there is a desire to want more.
