Yes, I know this series is nothing new, and i'm not even sure if there's been posts in the past about this, but I've recently decided to rewatch Firefly, and to be honest with you, it's an absolultey amazing show. Such a treat to watch, and rewatch.
Unfortunately, it was cut short in it's prime. Ended by money grabbing network that prefers ratings to excellence. From what I understand, in america the first few episodes got poor ratings, and as such, Firefly was doomed from the begining.
For some reason, I felt the need to make this post, I don't really know why to be honest.. I just think that it's such a good genre, everybody should watch atleast one episode.
For those who haven't seen it, it's a Sci-fi Western, but please, don't let the words Sci-fi put you off. It's about a crew of a Firefly class spaceship called Serenity (Yes, they did make a film to "complete" the storyline after FOX axed it). When you combine Sci-fi with comedy and then make it completely origional by adding a western aspect, you create something truely specacular. It comes from the brilliant Joss Whedon, who wrote Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, and although i'm not a great fan of his other work, Firefly is truely amazing.
SG1 has comedy, or did in Jack O'Neill's day, but Firefly has something special.
From illegal activities, to love, sexual tension between crew members, scamming, overpowered enemies called Reavers (Hell, I know that feeling all too well in BG1) and abundance of violence, bar brawls and ofcourse running from the law, firefly has it all.
I urge anybody who hasn't had the pleasure to give it a go. If you're a rich mofo play.com it, if not torrent it - it's seriously worth your bandwidth.
So now i've finished confessing my undieing love for 2002 axed TV show, please, feel free to post your opinions.
