yeah yeah ok so i totally missed the boat when they came out but ive just watched the box set this week and OMG whhhhhhy did they cancel it???

the bastards!

really great series i loved the way they were building things up...its such a damned shame they never got to actually go in to the story lines they set up.

so i hear they might have (possibly already done it) a cartoon series or a graphic novel about it to go in to the story more, anyone know about these?

I missed it at first too, but saw the box set about a couple of years ago and yeah, it pretty much rocked. To be honest, I thought the film was a pile of wank, but the series was very very good. I like the whole "John Wayne Western In Space On Acid" feel to it :)

Hero of Canton, the man they call Jaaaaayne.

Yeah, damn shame it was cancelled :(

I actually quite liked the film, not half as much as the series though.

Problem I have is that the bit of the series I really enjoyed was the banter between the characters (especially Wash / Alan Tudyk). I reckon that made the series and you just don't have time to develop that kind of thing in a 90 minute film. The action was good, but I think a lot of what made the series so great just wasn't in the film.

Then again, I just love Alan Tudyk...he even made A Knight's Tale watchable, despite it being utterly terrible. Now who wants a good fonging?

They binned it because the first network to play it played it out of order so episode 3 first or something so no one kew the characters ans the story did not flow so it got binned, since then sci fi has played it and got huge viewing figures but have not commisioned a series 2. I think thats a big part of it anyway :)

Well I did only ever see the movie, and liked it - so you just got me started on the serie aswell. No I can blame you for not getting any reading done the next few days. ;-)

On the plus side (or down side depending on how you look at it) they didn't let Jewel Staite write the second series.. Or else we'd of had this!!

If it were up to me, how would the characters' relationships conclude in Serenity 2? Okay. Hypothetically speaking only. River and Zoe really hit it off, fall in love, and decide to form their own renegade girls-who-kick-ass space team and leave us in the dust; Mal realizes he's more destroyed over Wash's death than he ever thought and spends the rest of his days wearing Hawaiian shirts and drinking booze out of the engine; Simon and Kaylee have a set of genius triplets and turn the ship into a cocker spaniel search-and-rescue with "crazy Grandpa Mal" still at the helm cradling toy dinosaurs; and Inara finally realizes the potential in Jayne as a male companion, loans him a toga, and takes him back to the training house where they become King and Companion Queen...you know you want that sequel!

She's right tho.. I do want that sequel!

www.sanctuaryforall.com is a new sci-fi show ("webisodes") that Sci-Fi have just bought the rights to show. Has loads of good actors in it, Robert Sean Leonard House MD, David Hewlett Stargate Atlantis, Amande tapping SG1, Micheal Shanks SG1.

I've really enjoyed it so far.

R.I.P. Firefly. :(

I'm currently watching all the seasons of Farscape. While not as good as Firefly, it's at least very watchable and I can warmly recommend it. I really do love Rygel, hehehe. I do hate Dargo though. Supposed to be this big tough guy of a warrior race.. big sword and all. And all he ever does is whine, romance, and get knocked out by enemies. LOL! :D

Firefly was best before Serenity. I watched it on SciFi in 2003 (I think). While the film was very good, I preferred it when they hadn't explained how the universe worked... the film just laid it all out flat at the beginning, it was a bit of a spoiler really.

A lot of decent shows in US getting cancelled for no good reason. Problem is that reality shows like "American Idol" and ''Dancing with the Stars" get all the viewing figures. CSI only managed 6th place last year and was 4th the year before. With the aforementioned reality shows both in the top 5 for 2007.

Big brother has a lot to answer for! Cheap TV fortheeasywin.

Not only that, they manage to put the top series at very silly times - take for example The Unit, which they have competing with House on a sister channel, thats just plain stupid considering House is their nr1 show so obviously The Unit is not going to get many viewers.

lol Cal :)

The main thing I liked about Firefly (which IMO Lev was not superior to farscape...i'd say they were on equal ground and seeing as farscape ran longer its probably got a bit of an advantage *points finger*) was that they took so much effort to lay the foundations of a really good show, the characters wern't all just layed out there they took time to reveal themselves.

The film was good and they had to kind of squish stuff in to it because it was the only chance they would get at wrapping everything up (sooo sad @ wash :( ) that said i think they did a great job i mean the film does stand alone very well but its better with the series.

what pisses me off sooo much is that the TV people show shit like x factor, big brother etc etc endlessly and they cancell stuff that actually depends on fantasy and acting its playing to the lowest commen denominator and it stinks its total BS!

btw Jayne town rocked rofl "eggs, this hero needs eggs!"

Reaper has been great, in my top 5 for past 12 months TV. Really liked Chuck despite the totally over the top story lines. The one about the precious gem owned by terrorists was child like in its conception but still hugely enjoyable. Wouldn't be suprised if the writer once worked on Scooby Doo!

Best shows of 2007/2008 so far

1. Dexter Season 2
2. Californication (funiest thing on TV)
3. Dr Who (Season 3)
4. Reaper
5. The Tudors (watching season 2 now)
