fins spots in CF - anyone know where they all are?

I keep hearing about there being more than 1 fins spot in CF but I've only ever seen people at the same spot. Does anyone have the /loc of the other ones or a map that I can use?

If I cant get on the fins list I'll start my own one for people who have jobs :)

Is it really so hard to find something else to level on but fins? It is really not the only mob in the game and is probably starting to affect the char composition in Hibernia (boooooring standardized characters in booooring standardized groups).

try saying to people "making a banshee group" or making a siabra group" it's sadly not got the same effect that saying "making fins group" has :)

I hate xping at the fins but the alternatives are far worse in most cases. I'd much rather be in the bog of cullen than CF anyday.

Of all the weirdness associated with the fins list and fins groups in Hibernia/Excalibur, the one that baffles me the most is the number of people on Barrysworld who post "don't hunt fins, fins suck and are boring, and you suck if you camp them"-type messages whenever someone mentions them.

Anyways, the truth is that everyone always goes to that one spot because it's ideal for a permanent floating pbaoe group: no aggro around except The Monkey, fast respawning fins in one fixed spot, and an easy route to get there (this is crucial because it lets replacement group members make their own way out to join the party on their own, without having to stop the group to go and fetch them). I think there are more fins northwest of that spot, but they don't BAF as well, and they are only there half the time (can't remember if they are day-only or night-only, but either way it's annoying). There are also supposed to be some more around 40,33 (near the tower where Green Maw lives) and I was told once by someone that that was the "other" CF fins spot. I can't vouch myself since I have never pulled them there, so I don't know if there's a safe spot for the group to stand, and I don't know what the surrounding aggro is like. If you scout it out, let me know so I can add it to my "fins for dummies" guide. ;)

I checked the fins spot around the granny hill approx 45,35. it's got a LOT of fins there, just north there's a stupid number of black wraiths and fins mixed. quite scary really lol

I got in and out no problem but there's no way a non-bard could make it on thier own. speed stopped anything getting close enough to hit but I did have a lot of formorians after me at 1 point :)

still if you have a dedicated group it'd be ideal, theres a huge area west of the fins between them and the bank that looks aggro free. the only worry is the odd passing dark steed although they dont look like they'll be able to aggro as your too far away.

Alrindel, that is a really really good guide you've written there, and i think every fin-xper should have a look at that. Only mistake i could spot: the finliath firebrand is not a large-weapon but a 1-handed blunt (useable in left hand even)
Anyway, hats off for a well written guide! :)

Yeah - the problem is that peeps expect to get slots at once. If
you like to have a place in a fin group get up early and start one
yourself.

(no I'm not unemployed ;) )

Not a big deal, but your 'Fins for Dummies' list Fins as 55-60 mobs, but they are 58-60.

Change if you like I will not start to cry if you dont ;)

as I was in the mid fourties the min lvl to attend a fin group was 45 with a few expectations where lvl44 where allowed to join.

always worked great - until the warden supply went dry :)

Did some guild groups near granny hill hunting fins in the past.

The spot is not as good as the "regular" spot, because often you will only get one or two fins, the camp bonus is almost always decent though. You will get the occasional banshee add as well, but its a decent spot for one group. It's real easy to get to, just follow zonewall to river, then follow river to granny hill and you're there, the only thing that sometimes gets aggroed is a forest poacher (?) at the last tree before the granny hill.

its a pretty good camp spot on the bottom of the hill on the N/NE side, nothing wandering there, the grannies stay on the hill.

Well the fins at granny hills is not as good due to sometime only get 1. And the spawnrate isnt as good. If u go little ne from that you fins another fins spot but bad respawn. If you keep going more ne you will find The fars dorocha spot.

When we did fins (before fin list) we also did the fars. They are 2 fars around 2 stones. Basically we stood between stones and pulled both camps at same time. You need 4 tanks for this, XP is great almost better then fins. Problem is that fars insta mezz.
The 4 tanks must pull all 4 at same time or else maybe Healer/PBAOE get mezzed. When you get it working its really fast xp. The fars respawn under downtime. Its almost instapop on them.
Its not as boring as fins and only slighter less xp at lvl 45-49. Try it out

The reason for the one Fin spot being so popular is that it's a 5-6 mob insta-pop spawn. All the other spots are either night tie only or they take a while to re-pop.

I think it's a reason why that spot is so popular yeh
