Hey peeps. I've been doing the fins list quite a lot the past few days and have been doing my best to keep everyone happy but today i got abuse off someone (who shall remain nameless) when i missed a message they sent me saying "logging for so many mins, don't give away my slot" or similar as it was sent in the middle of a mess of other blue messages from various others asking to join and wanting to know their position and fighting at same time. Shortly afterward someone in the slot they were queued for told me they had to leave so i started to work down the list, tried him not there, must have given up i thought. Worked down list till i found someone who was on (was late in the day and a lot had logged) and invited them. Ten minutes later first guy logs back on and asks what's up, i have to tell him he missed the spot and he starts sending abuse, i tried to explain how hard it is to do fins list especially during some periods where list spam is obscene and he tells me he wont forget this.

Anyway i'd like to say that i don't HAVE to do the fins list, i do it because i want to help out. I can deal with the spam and all and i may miss the occasional thing but just keep sending me till i send u a reply so u know i got the message. What i can't deal with is the abuse, normally if i make a mistake i will try to sort it somehow (i make a few ). Normally by putting person who missed out as first on list for next day.
Before you start judging the person who is doing the list or thinking you are being intentionally missed out then try doing the list yourself, you'll see it isn't that easy

manachanter can debuff cold, void eld can debuff energy, both do a lot better damage

Seriously though, from what I have seen Lessurl you have been doing a good job in running the list over the past few days and thanks for my call up last night to get my mini-ding.

Having run the list a couple of times myself I know exactly what you mean. What annoys me more are people who want to queue jump and expect you to let them in before others.

Hopefully, if I have had to log or will not be able to make it I have tried to let you know not just to stop you trying to find me but to give others a chance.

I had the fin list very often as I was in Cursed Forest and I often got the hassle coz someone waited hours and the core team never changed. Got bombed every 3 secs with spam.

yes, VOID AOE rocks - we even did it with VOID AOE + MENTA AOE

I've run the CF fins list a few of times and you have my complete simpathy.

You get constant spam from people, "has my place come up?", "have you give my place away?", "what number am i on the list", "loging for 5 min keep my space", "alting alt ------ please msg when got space". Now this is all fair enough, people want to know that their slot ain't gonna go. However when you are fighting, trying to monitor these msg's, and group/guild chat aswell as other msg's things do get missed.

What I find unacceptable is when you get hastle/abuse from people because :
1. you didn't immediatly respond to a PM
2. They are sitting on the slope next to fins and sombody else joins grp, and they think you have bumped sombody above them slot. (the list HAS to be class specific)
3. They are trying to get themselves into grp before thier slot comes up (this is the worse of all i my opinion)

OK, rant over. Just cut the list holder some slack is all i'm saying, in general the list holders are groovy people because you gotta be sound to volenteer to cope with the hasstle.

Fin's Group

First off apologies as this isn't really about the fins list, but I do feel the need to post this, and I dont want to start a new thread to do with the fin's groups.

I took Chalice, my enchantress to level 50 on the fin's many months ago. Now with my shade, I take the very few opportunities I get to also join a fin's group.

Yesterday (Monday) A group invited me to join them at Crim' Fin's.
Once i'd got over the shock of being invited. I made my way there. Once into the fun I find out there's another group also camping the fins.
A debate was ensuing as to whether the spot will now (after patches) support 2 groups. All I can say is I didn't personally noticed a decrease in spawn rate or size, the spot allways used to support 2 groups, and at least the potential xp is shared between 16 people rather than just 8.

Anyway to my main point. We were attacked my alb's (not unusual) while taking on 3 fin's luckily we survived. Afterwards a member of the other group came to us and said that a member of that group had contacted a friend who plays on alb' and asked them to come and make sure we were XP killed. This person told me he was disgusted by this action and had screenie's of the conversation. I am awaiting this evidence.

I pm'd the person responsible for this, and was personally convinced of the truth of this accusation by his replies.

(contact me for name's if you wish. I wont post them untill I have the screen shot's as definitive proof)

Now maybe i'm overeacting, or a little naieve, but I was totally shocked that a person could / would do this to gain a little XP. After all, it's just a game (sic) and, aren't we all on the same side ?

Anyway, sorry for the long post. I just really felt the need to get this off of my chest.

Yep, I was in the group with Silvaer and the first group we shared Fins with was'nt all that mad. Talked with Diax which actually dinged 50 that day while we were sharing camps and he was a really good guy

Though later another guy joined the team and this was the one who tried to get us killed .. Don't know why though but only confirming Silvear's story. Was a nice hunt and I actually earned 4 bubs while sharing camp so it's really not that big a problem it seems.

Knights just haven't hunted there before :uhoh:

I certainly wouldn't mind being in an xp-group as soloing doesn't yield all that much (2 bubs for the whole of last night).

Ask someone you think are in the Fins group "Who holds fins list plz?", And wait a few mins. Then you should get a name and then send that player a msg "Champion lvl 46 wants to be added to list plz". Then you should get a msg saying "your added on #3" for instance(#3 meaning that you are the 3rd tank on tank list).

How to find out who is in the fins group .. Try a /who forest and check if you find a single enchanter or a warden, they are probably in the group. You could also do a /who breifine I think and ask those NOT lvl 50 peeps.

no time to do the debuf shit. you need to cast it on 3 mobs and they resists. so need about 5*3sec to debuff a pull of 3, 1 by 1, hard to select from distance etc ... that's 4 void AE wasted =) and AE void do ownz =)

The person 'contactin a friend on alb' was me. After 10 hours of killing fins and waiting for pops ppl were starting to get annoyed. After someone mentioned the other group (yoo) slowing down our pulls, I made an attempt to lighten up the mood:

Everyone laughed, pop came and we pulled again. Someone with obviously no sense of humour or just childish then came up to you telling what he did. If that person is from my guild I apologize for him.

PS. I must remind you for the fact that I got expkilled once while defending you from the albs. The first time we were too late, but I and the others from my group rezzed your group _twice_.

Holding the list is great if you like to swear a lot at people

I was a member of the other fins group at crim. It was first brought to my attention that another grp was planning on coming to crim to hunt some fins when Gorguss pm'd me asking if I wanted to grp. On hearing the news that another group was planning to hunt fins I immediately told my group and asked them all if this spot was able to support two groups all gunning for fins. The reply was a solid no as this would reduce the rate that we would be able to pull the fins at. I relayed this message to gorguss (who seem a nice reasonable guy) he said something about having to go to EZ instead. Then around 30 minutes later I received another PM from Gurguss saying that his group was head for the crim fins.

The group that had been at the fins for several hours before your arrival was very annoyed at several attempts (from various people) to politely ask you to not come/leave... not point getting nasty.

It did decrease the rate at which our group was able to pull fins, more often than not we got a single fin only.

The effect this had on the group was pretty extensive there was even talk of us moving on to another spot (to avoid being stubborn). People camp the fins not for diversity and excitement, but for XP. Quite often they are close to 50 and that is their primary motivation for sitting at their PC's for hours on end killing the same mob over and over again.

I understand that you guys need to XP just like everyone else, but there is a certain etiquette that has been established in DAOC for certain mobs/spots and the crim fins imo can't support a steady XP flow for two full groups of XP hungry guys & Gals.

I have to admit, I feel really sad that the game isn't big enough(big might not be the correct word) to allow everyone enough spots and mobs to xp on at high levels :/

Crim fins can easely be done with to groups with both groups get good xp. One group can't pull from both side of the forrest at the same time...simple as that

Downside of EZ and DF is that xp groups usually have people coming and going as the hours pass. Hard to replace people in EZ and DF.

Dear all

My original post was made before I knew the perpetrator of the 'Incident' 'was' a respected DAoC player. The Chr' in the group was an alt' I have subsequently been contacted by the 'main' chr'.
Quite frankly I am very suprised at this persons actions.

I would like to point out a few discrepancies in the reply to my original post.
Firstly, we did not die and therefore had no need of being 'rezzed'.
Secondly, you know, as well as do I, that your intention was not to lighten the mood. You were angry at anyone else having the audacity to slow your xp harvesting down. Dispute this as much as you like, it will not alter the facts.
Lastly I hope that you were just having a bad day. I don't know you well in game, but I am sure this is not your normal behaviour.
I don't intend to take this thread any farther. As I think that which needs to be said, has been.
I will also not reveal you identity.


So I say to you all, please share prime hunting spots.
Yes, I know the XP may be a little slower, but at least more than 8 people at a time get to share in the XP frenzy. Also, protection and rezzes are then at hand.
We all know that, sadly the fins at CF and Crim' are the only realistically to get you beloved chr' to 50, before your real age reaches 50.
EZ Knights are good but as we all know the group wipeout rate + the hassle and time involved getting there make this a poor alternative to Fins'.

We are all DaoC veterans here. Generally, nice helpfull people. This is why we play and stay in beautifull Hibernia.

I don't know about you all, but I have enough stress in my so called R/L. I play the game to escape, chill and have fun.

I don't think many of us want to cause stress to others 'in game'.

Personally i made most of my last cpl of levels at Siabra City - It is IMO at least as good as fins, and has better drops, as well as being easier to get to than EZ or Crim (plenty of Kobold and Saracen aggro on the way to Crim).

You might try there some time.
