As several people have been surprised to learn it, thought I'd mention it here.
The last update to the chronicles included a way to see which houses are free. Much easier than running about.
Go to the GOA Home Page, click on Roll of Honour, and then Register for the Server you're interested in. You can now see all the houses, some detail about each, and if you hit Hide occupied lots, you'll see only those for sale.
Most handy when tryiinig to find that place of your own.
