The series has gone down hill recently Turamber, if you want a good final fantasy experience try one of the earlier versions (everyone has their own favourite but I would recommend Final Fantasy X as it has a great story, combat and it doesn't compromise on the graphics like some earlier versions).

This is true ^^

FFX was the last one I really enjoyed. FFXIII was ok, but felt nothing like a FF game to me.

I think they slowly got worse over the years, I do think the newer games are decent games, just not good FF games.

if you liked 10 you'll be pleased to know they're remaking it for the ps3.. no idea if they're changing alot of things in it tho or wether its just a complete gfx overhaul.

got ff13 off Ebay and I can't say I'm to impressed at the moment, for the first 2 hours so far all I've had to do is take a one way route and kill what ever attacks me...

and even thats not so fun just hitting the auto attack button.. hope it gets better??

I'm on Chapter 6 at the moment and just about to
face off against Caius
. All i want to do is finish the game to see the story through and that's it - i have no desire to go back to the other timelines and explore. The annoying thing is I really want to like this game but it's just not hit the spot.

Well completed the main story and am abit disappointed with the ending. The game is also too easy especially when you have lightning from dlc in the party.

Sounds like the story with FF games after 9 tbh. I really really enjoyed 12, but I know lots of people didn't; I just try not to think of it as a FF game. I will get 13 when I get my PS3 in April.

It was alright I thought.. still miss having the open worlds of classic FF games but I guess we just have to adapt :/ doubt Square Enix will make an open world FF ever again.

Finally got around to finishing this yesterday. Can say I'm not impressed with the ending, but..

With them probably making 13-3 (To Be Continued, cunts) they'll most probably explain the ending properly and give a proper reason as to why all the stuff happened at the end, didn't like the fact they left it there.

Better be free DLC then, because I'm not spending £5 to get what should have been in the normal game by default. I think Square will announce it though.

I think you need time to get used to the ending. I'm actually glad there is no happy flower sugar coated ending like in most games. The main enemy was fighting everyone to save the woman he protected and loved and won, which is better than most other enemies reasons.

No idea how to put spoilers in and im not straining myself to find out either.

ff13 was ruined tbh :p you an cheese any high hp boss to death with poison, poison does damage per second based on their max hp... higher the hp the more damage per second they take.

Yea not the hardest game ever, didn't watch a single cut scene and just auto attacked the whole way thru..

Will start ff13-2 later. Is it any more complex?

Litmus, you know the cut scenes are what make the games? - Rather sad, but it is true.

13-2 is just auto-attack and switch when necessary/heal when necessary.

I know but I had the constant threat of the gf trying to turn it off, so I had to cut what I could.

Also 13-2 is only one disk is it shorter or something?

And is the dlc something you can have from start to finish or is it end game content?

hmm 13-2 isnt shorter per say its just the way its layed out that makes it feel shorter, hard to explain really :p it lasts awhile tho and the dlc you could start any time (the arena one especially) I havent done it all yet tbh, only done the arena so far and used some of the DLC Weapons.

Going to play the game again from the start, but going to cheat the whole thing (9999 stats, max CP from the start, max GIL etc) and see if I can do it in under 10 hours. Full game (Died a lot on the last section) was about a 20h play through, pretty average for any FF game after 9 imo.

They have released the new Lightning and Snow dlcs. Haven't touched the Snow dlc yet but I've just completed the lightning dlc.

10 minutes to edit a post, really?

They have released the new Lightning and Snow dlcs. Haven't touched the Snow dlc yet but I've just completed the Lightning dlc.

Basicly you fight Caius as Lightning at lvl 1 and this goes all the way up to level 10 depending on how much cp you gain from winning/losing the fight. Obviously this gets easier as your level gets higher as it unlocks other roles and abilities. You can set the lvl at the start of the fight to make it easier/harder.

Eventually after defeating him with a decent rating he will change into Chaos Bahamut and then another fight will start. After killing him you get to see how the canon ending came to pass and also after the credits a cutscene possibly hinting at ff13-3. After that you can select level 0 which makes the fight even harder by lowering your stats and removing some abilities (took me 58 minutes to kill both bosses at level 0).

You also if lucky you get to use Goddess Lightning as a monster party member in the game and from the looks of it she is more powerful than the first lightning they released. Her role is a commando.

TLDR Version - Lightnings DLC you get 2 boss fights, Caius and Chaos Bahamut, Goddess Lightning as a monster party member and a explanation of how the canon ending happened, along with a possible hint towards ff13-3.
