Sadly I didn't take a picture but ... when I was in Albania I drove along the Riviera route. The road snakes down the side of a mountain with a sheer drop to the sea below it.

Absolutely beautiful view; breathtaking. Or it should have been. The road had been built about 20 years previously and there was around 20 years worth of rotting garbage and dead seagulls all down the side of the mountain, all along the road and in the overtaking spots.

I wound the window down and the smell of putrifying garbage and rotting flesh made me heave.

I seen something on the BBC a couple of weeks ago about a beach in the pacific area, i think it was one of the Hawaiian islands.

Apparently all the rubbish from all the major oceans travels via a current to this set of islands, making it into a massive rubbish tip.
